Fresh & Seasonal Recipes: November

Hello and welcome to this month's Fresh & Seasonal Recipes! Fall is officially here in many parts of the country, and farmer's markets are switching to winter fruit and veggies, but we still have plenty of inspiration. Plus . . . there's a little something called Thanksgiving at the end of the month, and we havefeelings about it!

Cranberries

Hazelnut Cranberry Walnut TartCranberries are plentiful at the grocery store during the holidays, and while cranberry sauce is a classic (see below), we have some additional ideas for these vitamin C-packed beauties! This Hazelnut Cranberry Walnut Tart is absolutely incredible and would be gorgeous on any holiday table--or as an appetizer with a good glass of wine. A buttery tart crust made with Unbleached White Fine Pastry Flour and Hazelnut Flour is filled with cranberries, shallots, walnuts and chard and topped with rich brie. #ProTip: the most organized Thanksgiving menu strategists make a plan in advance for leftovers! These Leftover Cranberry Sauce Pumpkin Muffins are perfect for any extra cranberry sauce or pumpkin puree, and use Organic Unbleached White All-Purpose Flour and Organic Whole Wheat Flour to create tender, tempting muffins.

Oranges

Almond Cake Oranges are available year-round, of course, but there's something special about these sunny sweeties during the holidays! The combination of orange, cinnamon and cloves is irresistible! In our Flourless Orange Almond Cake, the bright flavor of orange is amped up with Cointreau, and the fantastic texture comes from Almond Flour and Gluten Free Egg Replacer. These low carb Cranberry Orange Drop Scones from Carolyn Ketchum are flavored with fresh orange juice and cranberries. Organic Coconut Flour and Almond Flour combine with eggs, Greek yogurt and coconut oil to make these delicious treats!

Pears

Pear Oatmeal Sweet, juicy pears are a delicious treat, especially during these chilly fall months. This Baked Pear Oatmeal is warm and comforting, perfect for a flavor-packed breakfast. Made with Regular Rolled Oats, butter and spices, it's mixed with chopped pears and baked to perfection. Looking for a delicious dessert? Try our Pear Almond Toffee Cake. Made with Greek yogurt, Almond Flour and Unbleached White All-Purpose Flour and served with an indulgent rum toffee sauce, it's perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

Pomegranates

Not only are pomegranates an excellent source of fiber and a good source of vitamins C, K, and folate, but they add intense flavor, color and crunch to all manner of recipes! We love them in these beautiful Pomegranate Rosemary Bread Wreaths. Made with Organic Unbleached White All-Purpose Flour and filled with pomegranate seeds, rosemary, nutmeg, cloves, salt, butter and sugar, then rolled and shaped into wreaths, these baked goods are as decorative as they are delicious. Add some extra nutrition to breakfast with our Vanilla Doctor's Orders Smoothie! Vanilla Protein Powder Nutritional Booster combines with Greek yogurt, pomegranate and blueberries.

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet Potato Donuts Does anything taste more fall than sweet potatoes? Loaded with vitamins A and B6, these tasty tubers can be roasted, mashed, pureed or fried. One of our favorite uses for sweet potatoes, these Paleo Sweet Potato Donuts combine sweet potato puree with Paleo Baking Flour, maple syrup and spices. Roasted sweet potatoes are the key ingredient in these Sweet Potato Pie Bars, which are vegan and gluten free. The crust is made with pecans, Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour, Gluten Free Rolled Oats and Organic Coconut Sugar, then filled with a creamy mixture of sweet potatoes, spices, maple syrup and coconut milk.
