Bob Moore is a lifelong entrepreneur and tinkerer with a passion for whole grain
nutrition. In 1978, after a long career that included owning several gas stations,
managing a JC Penney Auto Center and opening Moore’s Flour Mill with his sons, he and
his wife, Charlee Moore, founded Bob’s Red Mill with the mission of Inspiring Joy with
Wholesome Foods™. After succeeding beyond his wildest dreams, he established an
Employee Stock Ownership Plan in 2010. Because of his foresight and generosity, we
are now 100% employee owned.
When I look back, I strongly feel like it chose me. When my wife, Charlee, introduced us
to whole grain foods at home, it lit a fire in me that’s never gone out, spurring me to
educate myself about traditional stone milling techniques, and it created a path for my
life that I’ve followed ever since.
To create the greatest success, make sure you reward and respect the people who helped
get you there in the first place.
It’s no secret that I enjoy a bowl of whole grain oatmeal almost every morning. To my
mind, there’s no better way to start the day!
Throughout his 17 years at Bob’s Red Mill, Trey has played an instrumental
role at the company, beginning in accounting before rising to CFO and
then CEO. During his tenure, he has helped expand the brand into new
product categories, including snack and convenience, while maintaining
leadership in whole grains, stone-ground flours, hot and cold cereals and
baking mixes. More recently, he’s championed the creation of new forward-looking roles at the company, including a VP of Supply Chain where quality, food safety and supply intersect, a Sustainability Manager and a Director of Innovation.
I love this question! I was looking for a sense of purpose in my work life.
Like most people, I needed a paying job but I wanted more. I wanted to
feel like my career was making the people and world around me a better
place. What better way to do this than to work at Bob’s Red Mill where we
inspire joy with wholesome foods.
I was told that, “I, not events, have the power to make me happy or
unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be.” Everyone has adversity: it is
how we handle it that matters.
I really love our oatmeal. I am especially proud of how good our oatmeal is
compared to the brand I grew up eating

Bob’s Red Mill has a great reputation in the natural food industry. I was

I chose to come to Bob’s Red Mill for a number of reasons! A few reasons
include my desire to work for a company that supports and promotes
healthy living, a company that is employee owned, and the comeback story
of Bob and Charlee rebuilding the business after the fire that destroyed the
original mill. Very inspiring!
My dad always used to tell me about the importance of hard work. He
always had high standards for me, but the focus was the level of effort I
would put forward—results would come with hard work.
Friday night is pizza night in my family’s house! Bob’s Red Mill organic all-purpose

More than 24 years ago, I was working in foodservice and as a dietician. I
saw the vast array of products in the stores, and I was using them to feed
my family, including young children. I noticed an ad in the newspaper and I
met Bob, and he hired me. He saw my enthusiasm for the products!
I think I just learned something from working in the business world from
many others—don’t make quick or rash decisions if you’re not sure. Sleep
I can’t narrow it down to one, but the top three are Old Country Style
Muesli, Steel Cut Oats and Gluten Free Vanilla Yellow Cake Mix.
Meghan Keeley was promoted to Vice President of Supply Chain after
seven years as Director of Quality Assurance, where she elevated

make wholesome foods available so families can nourish their lives. It has
been so inspiring to work together as a team to grow Bob’s Red Mill, so we
can offer quality foods to fill customers' pantries.
I love our oatmeal cups, especially the Apple Cinnamon. They’re perfect for
an easy-to-make, nutritious breakfast when I’m in a hurry, and they’re also
great to take camping!
