Bob moves to Oregon with his wife, Charlee, after a career as a business owner and entrepreneur. They purchase an abandoned mill in Milwaukie, Oregon, establishing Bob’s Red Mill.

Northwest grocery chain Fred Meyer adds dozens of Bob’s products, including 10 Grain Cereal and 13 Bean Soup Mix, introducing new customers to healthy whole grains.

Milling begins at a new, larger facility less than a year after arson destroys the original mill.


... 2000 ...

Bob’s Red Mill distributes its first international products to Canada and South Korea, bringing whole grains to the world. Bob’s Red Mill products are currently in 80+ countries around the globe.

Bob’s Red Mill relocates, increasing its dedicated gluten free manufacturing capabilities and expanding to more than 100 gluten free products.

On his 81st birthday, Bob announces he is creating an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), making everyone an employee-owner.

Bob’s Red Mill provides consumers with delicious whole grains on the go with the debut of Gluten Free Oatmeal Cups.

The first stand-up resealable pouches launch in response to consumer demand, minimizing mess and waste. Response is incredible, leading to increased sales.

Bob’s Red Mill announces its expanded participation in the Non-GMO Verified Project. To date, more than 200 BRM products are now Non-GMO Verified.

Bob’s Red Mill celebrates its 40th Anniversary on a trajectory of year-over-year, double-digit sales growth.
