Details

Bob's Red Mill Organic Buckwheat Flour is ground whole grain buckwheat‚ nothing else! The pyramid-shaped kernels are harvested and ground into surprisingly rich flour with little black specks that come from the ground seed hull. This is how traditional Buckwheat Flour has been made for hundreds of years. Buckwheat flour contains a significant amount of fiber, and studies have shown that it helps slow down the rate of glucose absorption after a meal. Buckwheat is also a good source of protein and calcium. Buckwheat has a unique, assertive flavor that is especially great in both quick and yeast breads. You can add a little buckwheat flour to almost any recipe that calls for regular flour. In wheat bread, use half buckwheat flour to add a rich, earthy and nutlike flavor and darker color. Buckwheat flour is a must-have for making traditional Russian blini, or buckwheat crepes.

Buckwheat Flour Cookies
Martha Stewart had a recipe for odd looking gray cookies. Boy, are they a hit (after you get used to the color). Really good flavor and texture with the added chocolate and espresso coffee to go with the buckwheat flour. A winner.

Very good!
We add ~15% buckwheat flour and ~15% corn flour when making pancakes, ~20% buckwheat four when making noodles or orecchiette. It is much healthier, and we really love the flavor and texture. Always choose red mill's buckwheat and this time we bought whole 2 cases of them ! (enough for whole year XD)
Love buckwheat four and we just bought 2 cases (8 bags)!
We have our own recipe and we make a lot of buckwheat bread every two weeks!

Great pancake maker!
Great for making pancakes and for adding a bit to other flours. Some say buckwheat helps strengthen blood capillaries in the body and eyes. Whether it does that or not, it's a healthy, tasty whole grain. I was disappointed not to find the creamy buckwheat cereal in a household size (only 25 lb. bag was available.) Please keep carrying it.

Buckwheat bravos
Many of us have used buckwheat as an additional ingredient in various baking projects but you just can't get the full flavor and goodness of buckwheat until you've used it as the dominant ingredient in pancakes, muffins, breads, cookies. Buckwheat has a nutty flavor and nutritional goodness that is unsurpassed. Experiment with it and you will be amazed.
Add a little almond, brown rice or sorghum flour and you will have a light delicious treat

Hard to find in my local supermarket. Buckwheat pancakes were a staple in our house growing up (60 years ago!). With a wheat allergy, it's the only way to make breakfast filling and tasty without buying an inferior product IF it can even be found!

Does your Bobs Red Mill organic flour contain gluten? Or it’s gluten free?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Our Organic Buckwheat Flour is inherently gluten free, but it is not produced in our gluten free facility and not tested for gluten. It may contain trace amounts of gluten.
Is this gluten free?
A shopper on Feb 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Inherently buckwheat is gluten free; however, this flour is packaged in our Conventional Facility which also processes wheat products. Despite thorough and stringent cleaning processes there is a possibility for cross contact with gluten.

Quality. Integrity. Tradition.
