Bob's Red Mill Organic Buckwheat Flour is ground whole grain buckwheat‚ nothing else! The pyramid-shaped kernels are harvested and ground into surprisingly rich flour with little black specks that come from the ground seed hull. This is how traditional Buckwheat Flour has been made for hundreds of years. Buckwheat flour contains a significant amount of fiber, and studies have shown that it helps slow down the rate of glucose absorption after a meal. Great pancake maker!
Great for making pancakes and for adding a bit to other flours. Some say buckwheat helps strengthen blood capillaries in the body and eyes. Whether it does that or not, it's a healthy, tasty whole grain. I was disappointed not to find the creamy buckwheat cereal in a household size (only 25 lb. bag was available.) Please keep carrying it.

Many of us have used buckwheat as an additional ingredient in various baking projects but you just can't get the full flavor and goodness of buckwheat until you've used it as the dominant ingredient in pancakes, muffins,breads, cookies. Buckwheat has a nutty flavor and nutritional goodness that is unsurpassed. Experiment with it and you will be amazed.

Hands down this is the best product I have used to date. The flavor and consistency is spot on every time. It makes my Buckwheat Black Walnut Toll House Cookies a hit every time I make them. And without the incredible product that Bob's Red Mill provides my Toll House Cookies would not be the same. More people need to return to the whole grains that feed the Americans that built this country and find the energy to build the kind of life they want to leave to there children.

I suppose you don't certify this flour as gluten free. Could there really be enough gluten in it to make someone sick?

Not gluten free :(
I wish they would make this on the gluten free lines, as I and many others are precluded from buying it when it may contain gluten. Buckwheat is naturally gluten free and is commonly called for in gluten free non-sweet baking... we celiacs need a reliable source!

Hard to find in my local supermarket. Buckwheat pancakes were a staple in our house growing up (60 years ago!). With a wheat allergy, it's the only way to make breakfast filling and tasty without buying an inferior product IF it can even be found!

BEST ANSWER: Our Organic Buckwheat Flour is inherently gluten free, but it is not produced in our gluten free facility and not tested for gluten. It may contain trace amounts of gluten.
