Whole Grain Teff is a tiny grain that has been a staple of traditional Ethiopian cooking for thousands of years. It has a mild, nutty flavor and is a good source of iron, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. Try teff in porridge or stew. Delicious on its own or combined with other grains and vegetables.

Details

Add a little adventure to everyday meals with teff, a tiny whole grain that has been a staple of traditional Ethiopian cooking for thousands of years. Whole Grain Teff (Tef, T'ef) an ancient East African cereal grass, is a nutritional powerhouse. It is the smallest grain in the world (about 100 grains are the size of a kernel of wheat!). The germ and bran, where the nutrients are concentrated, account for a larger volume of the seed compared to more familiar grains.

With a mild, nutty flavor and lots of calcium, protein and fiber, whole grain teff is a great addition to porridge, stews, pilaf or baked goods. Cooked whole grain teff makes a unique hot breakfast cereal similar in consistency and texture to wheat farina. Teff can be made into polenta, added to veggie burgers, cakes, cookies and breads. Naturally gluten free, teff is a wonderful way to mix up your menu with something a bit exotic.

Delicious hot breakfast cereal
This was my first time purchasing this product. There is a recipe on the back of the package for teff porridge. I tried the recipe but used agave syrup, dates, walnuts and coconut milk as optional toppings to add to the teff after it was cooked with water. This was so delicious, creamy and the aroma from the ground cloves was awesome. I purchased a case of 4 packages and cannot wait to try different recipes.

Thank you , it’s Delicious!
Wonderful replacement for cream of wheat in the morning. It’s mild, yet has great flavor. I use less water than recommend as I prefer it a bit thicker and with fuller flavor. So happy that Bob’s Red Mill offers this product.

Great grain, great value
The grains are good quality and the cost was reasonable to what I would get in the grocery store, although I wish the shipping was free. The recipe for the porridge is wonderful and it's always tasty. Should probably find a new recipe to use for it. Make sure to toast the grains enough to release the flavor.

Teff
This is a tiny grain. I have only used it in breads and we like the flavor it gives — typically I also add other grains also such as flax seed (that I grind) and I use primarily whole wheat flour.

This was a NICE surprise!!
I follow Bob's on Instagram and saw their IG video on this product. I read up on it and it's packed with goodness for my body so YEAHHHH - I had to buy!! I add this to my morning brown rice farina (from BOB'S!!). I am a huge iron skillet user and that's how I make my cereal. The Teff mixes in easily and adds to the nice consistency of my hot cereal. I know you can use to make many stews, etc., maybe one day I'll try those but for now - LOVING it in my farina for breakfast! This is a must try for everyone ... for real!!

The impact of the government corruption over the last year has had a negative effect on my health. I can no longer haphazardly consume foods that may cause inflammation. Bobs Red Mill Teff is my starting point on a 28 day elimination diet, to help me regain some of my health and identify foods that I am allergic to and should avoid. Resisting corruption is a long term commitment and needs a healthy body!

Is it all cleaned up and there's no soil or sand in it?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this product has been cleaned to remove dirt and sand.
Do I have to rinse the teff prior to cooking, and is it difficult to find a strainer for a grain so smaill?
A shopper on Mar 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi! No, you do not need to rinse the teff before cooking; however, if you do find that you need to rinse the small grains as part of a recipe you could use layered cheesecloth within a strainer/sieve.

Quality. Integrity. Tradition.
