Who says oats have to be sweet? This rich, ooey-gooey dish is loaded with savory sausage and melted cheese! Our Gluten Free Organic Old Fashioned Rolled Oats add a boost of fiber and whole grain nutrition. Recipe by Tony Shasteen.
Preheat oven to 375°F and spray an 8 x 8-inch square baking dish or 9-inch round pan with pan spray.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and onion and cook for about 8 minutes, or until the sausage is cooked through. Set aside to cool slightly.
In a large bowl, mix together oats, baking powder, salt and pepper. Next, add the slightly cooled sausage and onion mixture. Stir in milk and eggs until fully combined, then fold in 2 cups of cheese.
Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center isn’t quite golden. Top with remaining cheese and bake an additional 5–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Enjoy!
