Petite French Green Lentils have a pleasant, peppery flavor and lovely dark green color. No need to pre-soak these little beauties! They cook on the stovetop in just 25 minutes. A terrific choice for salads and soups.


Lentils may be the oldest cultivated legume in history. Archeological digs have produced artifacts dating lentils clear back to 8,000 to 7,000BC! Petite French Green Lentils are a bit spicy with a mottled, dark green appearance. They are the most intensely flavored of the lentil family and are prized by chefs for their rich, earthy flavor and hearty texture. They hold their shape when cooked and make a delicious side dish or a bed for entrees.

Though small in size, lentils are a nutritional all-star. They're rich in fiber and contain about a steak's worth of protein, making them a healthy meat substitute for vegetarians and vegans. Lentils are also packed with folate, iron, phosphorus and potassium.

Great way to get your Dr. Gregor 'daily dozen'
Beans, beans and more beans is what Dr. Gregor of the book, How Not to Die, recommends. If you don't currently follow him, you should because he has the science behind the WFPB diet. Also, he's a hoot! Anyway, I cooked a big pot of these yesterday and we are having homemade lentil soup and salad for dinner. The lentils stayed nice and intact, did not turn to mush like some do. I think the soup is going to be epic!

A tasty and nutritious addition to soup. Quick cooking, too. I had to go online to order the French Green Lentils after I looked for them in 3 different Whole Food stores where they were always sold out!

Distinctly Different and Flavorful Lentils
I like these little lentils on their own as a side vegetable. They cook up fast and only need a little salt and pepper and perhaps and sprinkle of chives or green onions. Very nice with evening meals but also can accompany breakfast egg dishes.

I never knew lentil were so easy to cook!
These lentils hold their shape and are excellent for salads. I make a Greek Salad and use a base of brown rice / french green lentils with some cooked vegetables added in (red onion, mushroom and carrots). Layer the rice/lentil mix, tzatziki sauce, and then the Greek salad -- makes and awesome meal.

Green lentils are lovely
I have type 2 diabetes, and read somewhere (Facebook?) that lentils are great for keeping blood sugars under control. I now substitute green lentils or other lentils for potatoes, rice, and pasta. They have made a wonderful addition to my diet and I find I am less hungry than I used to be when I ate more/higher carbs. Green lentils take longer to cook than other lentils, and they are delicious al dente. Cooked with TJ's frozen mushrooms, very delicious!

Lentils, together with brown rice, is a very healthy staple food. I eat the two together about 4 times a week.

I suspect green lentils taste better than other lentils. They also hold their shape.
