Whole Grain Oat Flour is freshly milled from whole grain oat groats and includes all of the nutritious germ, bran and endosperm. Nothing is added and nothing is removed. Oat flour can be used to replace up to 20% of the flour in most baked goods for unique flavor and increased nutrition.

Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Oat Flour is a great way to make whole grains part of your healthy diet. Made from pure oats, our Oat Flour has a subtle, sweet whole grain flavor.

Whole grain oats make an incredibly nutritious and beneficial oat flour. Not only are oats an excellent source of dietary fiber, they also reduce serum cholesterol levels in the body. Oats are higher in protein and healthy fats, and lower in carbohydrates than most other whole grains. They contain more soluble fiber than any other grain.

Add some healthy and delicious Whole Grain Oat Flour to your baking recipe or as a thickener or breading. Oat flour can replace up to 20% of the flour in your recipe. Using Oat Flour in your favorite pancake, pie crust, muffin, biscuit or bread recipe adds true whole grain oat flavor and wholesome nutrition. You can view the full oat flour nutrition breakdown in the tab above. Be sure to check your cookbooks for recipes using this wholesome and nutritious flour and browse our oat flour recipes here.

Whole Grain Pancakes
I make these whole grain pancakes often for my family and we all love them. I use 1/3rd Oat Flour, 1/3rd Whole Wheat Flour, and 13rd Spelt Flour in my mix and it’s the Oat Flour that makes them so tender....and nutritious!

We eat everything oats so I bought this to try. Made a dozen muffins and left the house for a few hours and returned to find no muffins. Reportedly, they were awesome. I plan on making more soon!

Oat flour is a healthier pick for myself. The Nutrition Facts are wonderful considering the fact that the only ingredient is Whole Grain Oats. It's great to bake with. Basically switch out the white flour with Oat Flour. I'll definitely continue to purchase.

Best Oat grain flour found in any muffin
We used the recipe with many additions found on the back of the Oat bran cereal. We substituted the Oat bran for the whole wheat flour. Added, applesauce, banana, flax seed, toasted wheat bran, walnuts and dates. Everyone loves them and not one is left today and I made 12. Have to do it all over again tomorrow and it is 106 deg. here in So. Cal.

I use this flour in my bread mixture but I also use it with your Scottish oatmeal to make Oat cakes, Scottish style, just oats, a little oil and hot water and a little salt. Also good for my borderline cholesterol!!

Have you ever heard of a product call NUTRIM SYSTEM- well it's oatmeal in a powder good for cholesterol and various other things. It was good only problem is very costly, and but overall. I never knew there was such a word as oatmeal powder until I purchase it. What do you know I stumble on your website and determine it's affordable, it offers same effect and productive solution I am want to achieve.

It is a great all purpose flour. I use it in muffins, pancakes, biscuits, sometimes by itself and sometimes in combination with regular all purpose flour. Also it is a wonderful thickener or base for a roux or gravy, very velvety and smoother than even regular white flour.

I have been using your Oat Flour for 20+ years and in the last year I have not been able to find it any any of my usual retail vendors. Very disappointed as it is the secret ingredient for my family's favorite blueberry pancakes and other assorted treats. Glad to see it for sale on line, i was afraid you had stopped offering it. Best, Eileen Lawson

We love the recipe on the back for pancakes. We have adjusted the recipe a bit and we make a double batch every weekend. We add flax seed meal and use olive oil and we have cut all the sugar out and put chocolate chips or blueberries in instead. It is the best!!!

Is Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Oat Flour gluten free?
A shopper on May 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi! This Whole Grain Oat Flour is inherently gluten free but is processed in a facility that also processes wheat on shared lines. For tested and confirmed gluten free version search our website for the product, "Gluten Free Oat Flour."
Is this considered the same as colloidal oats?
A shopper on Dec 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Colloidal oats are made from a solution of whole grain ground oats and water; you can make colloidal oats using this flour as its milled from whole oat groats, but we don't have instructions for doing so.
Is this flour suitable for bread making machines?
steve b on Nov 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have never tried to make bread with just the oat flour, but I have used it to substitute up to half of the whole wheat flour, and it seems to work fine. I use a 25 yr old Breadman's bread machine recipe book, and it calls for extra gluten flour in all the recipes. If you are using oat flour to reduce or eliminate gluten, you will need to add something else to give it elasticity - xanthan gum is common, but I recently learned that pectin also works, as in apple butter. Hope this helps.
Is it safe to eat this raw e.g. in smoothies?
A shopper on Feb 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We don't recommend using any of our flours without cooking, but we do have many nutritional boosters that are great for adding to smoothies. You can find them here:

How many grams of beta glucan per cup of flour?
A shopper on Feb 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We have the nutritional content of our products analyzed by a 3rd party laboratory and beta glucan amounts are not something that they have quantified. I apologize for the inconvenience, and I can pass on a suggestion to include this information in future analysis.
Is this product the same as “raw oat flour”?
A shopper on Feb 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This flour is made from oat groats (whole grain oats) that have been toasted to make them more shelf stable. It is not considered to be "raw." We hope that you enjoy the oat flour if you try it.
Can i put this into a protein shake directly?
ryan w on Jan 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You can add this to a protein shake if you prefer, but it will not dissolve and may clump up or add a fibrous texture.

Is the oat flour sourced in the USA?
A shopper on Sep 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. All of our oats are sourced from both Canada and the United States. We hope you enjoy the oat flour if you try it!
Does the oat flour have to be refrigerated or is this just for it to be at its best?
Heather P on Aug 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Storing our oat flour in the refrigerator will help to extend the shelf and keep it away from pests like grain moths who love whole grains and flours. You can also store the flour in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. We hope you enjoy the flour!
My oat flour has the 'sell by date of 8/6/16 - never opened. Can I use it 4/21/18?
Lakiba P on Apr 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Generally we recommend using our products by the sell by/best by date or about 6 months beyond. I would recommend using fresh product at this point.
