Details

Textured Vegetable Protein is a highly nutritious soy product. It is incredibly wealthy in complete protein and contains no fat, so it is an excellent alternative to meat. TVP® is made from defatted soy flour that has been cooked under pressure and then dried. TVP® is naturally gluten-free and is handled and packaged in our separated, dedicated gluten-free facility. It is routinely tested for cross contamination using R5 ELISA testing protocol to ensure its gluten-free status.

Although TVP® doesn't add much flavor, it's low in fat and calories, contains a wealth of complete soy protein and it's a good source of dietary fiber. Soy contains complete protein with all the amino acids essential to human nutrition, which must be supplied in the diet because they cannot be synthesized by the human body. It is also a good source of iron, magnesium and phosphorus.

Use TVP® as an extender in meat or protein patties and meatloaf, stews and soups. It works great as a protein additive for health bars, salads, cereals, baked potatoes and stuffing. It is very easy to prepare and takes on the flavor of whatever recipe to which it is added, making it an incredibly versatile addition to a wide variety of dishes. Adding TVP® to your favorite cooked dishes is a tasty and simple way to take advantage of soy's bountiful nutrition. Don't forget to try our delicious Country Chili recipe on the back of the package!

TVP® is a registered trademark of Archer-Daniels-Midland Co.

Great for Vegan Crumble
Excellent product. Evenly size with very little “dust” common in other brands. Vegan crumble is easily made in less than 20 minutes.

Excellent replacement for ground beef
Ground beef has gotten horribly expensive the last few years, and we don't eat much of it anymore. This TVP is a great way to stretch what little we do buy. I replace half the beef in my chili recipe with this stuff, and no one is the wiser for it. It was the first BRM product I ever bought, and will remain in my pantry permanently.

Great Ground Meat Addition or Alternative
I've been using this product for years. It's inexpensive and so fast and easy to prepare! It makes it easy to stretch the size of a dish while also making it leaner (health-wise). It's great as an addition to or as an alternative to ground meat. I like the protein/fiber ratio, as well as its low sodium high potassium ratio. It takes on the flavors around it and is practically undetectable when added to ground poultry or beef with spices and seasonings. I use it to make a meat-less sausage crumble that friends and family who are not vegetarians absolutely love. I add it to all sorts of things, soups, tomato sauce, taco filling, burgers, chili, meatballs... It's a very versatile product. I find it best to constitute it with vegetable or chicken broth first and then go from there when incorporating it into a recipe.

First time cooking, easy and quick!
I've never made anything with TVP before, but it only took me 5 minutes to cook, and after adding seasoning, made some great and tasty taco filler!

For individuals on a low-carbohydrate diet--especially those who are vegetarians and therefore unwilling/unable to partake of breakfast meats, this makes an excellent, protein-rich hot cereal. Reconsitute the TVP in liquid ( I prefer allmond milk), add nuts (and fruit if you're not diabetic) some cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin pie spice. Microwave, add sweetener (I prefer Torani Sugar-Free syrups), stir, add a dash of cream or creamer, and you've got a fine and filling breakfast--quick!

Hi there. Can you tell me what is used for the drafting process ? I e is hexane used? Thank you
A shopper on Oct 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: TVP is solvent extracted. Solvent is used to get the oil out of the soybean. Solvent is removed prior to texturizing. The solvent used in this chemical process is hexane.

I have a dog food recipe calling for Textured Soy Protein. Is the Soy Protein what I should use or should I use the Textured Vegetable Protein? They're both made of soy right? What is the difference?
Julie D on Feb 13, 2018
TVP® (Textured Vegetable Protein)
TVP® (Textured Vegetable Protein)

Soy Protein Powder
BEST ANSWER: Hi! Yes, they are both made from soy; however, the Soy Protein Powder is a fine powder (typically used in smoothies or similar) and Textured Vegetable Protein is a dry, crumbled textured (typically used as a meat replacement.)
I've read that TVP often contains MSG. Does your product contain MSG?
A shopper on Feb 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi! Our TVP contains a small amount (less than .05%) of naturally occurring monosodium glutamate (MSG) which is a non-essential amino acid.
How long will it keep?
A shopper on Jan 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This product is best kept in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, preferably the fridge or freezer. Will keep up to 18 months when stored properly.
