No Grain. No Gain.® Organic Buckwheat Groats are the hulled seeds of the buckwheat plant. These soft white seeds have a mild, grassy flavor, which can be intensified by toasting the buckwheat kernels. This gluten free grain is a great addition to soups and salads, and is a must-have ingredient for classic Eastern European dishes inlcuding kasha varnishkes and potato knish.

Details

Discover buckwheat, the nutritional wonder that is a mainstay of traditional Eastern European cuisine. Organic Buckwheat Groats are the hulled seeds of the buckwheat plant. These soft white seeds have a mild flavor, but when toasted or roasted, they have a delightfully intense flavor. Groats can be steam-cooked like rice for salads and side dishes or ground in your own mill into fresh flour. Use your freshly ground Buckwheat flour in homemade soba noodles.

What is buckwheat? Buckwheat groats are gluten free seeds from a plant related to rhubarb. The outer husk is pulled away and the grain-like fruit is harvested and eaten. First cultivated in Southeast Asia thousands of years ago, in time buckwheat journeyed west and took root in Eastern Europe, where it became the star of many classic dishes. Buckwheat is full of nutrients, making it popular in many nations across the globe. An excellent source of both soluble and insoluble fiber, each 1/4 cup of Buckwheat also contains 6 grams of protein and 8% of your recommended daily value of iron. Buckwheat provides complete protein. It has an amino acid score of 99.

The robust flavor of this quick-cooking gluten free grain is perfect for salads, soups and cereal. Organic Buckwheat Groats also make an excellent hot breakfast porridge or side dish at dinner and can replace rice or any other grain called for in pilafs, casseroles and more. Use buckwheat groats in any recipe that calls for whole grains.

Yummy homemade tortillas
Buckwheat is another of my finds, teaching myself to be a better vegan cook. The Guilt Free Kitchen on Youtube is where you can find a recipe for the easiest, yummy homemade (gluten free) tortillas. All you need to do is soak the groats for a few hours, blend with water and cook on a non-stick pan. Super easy and so healthful.

unfrosted buckwheat
It is hard to find unroasted buckwheat groats. We like them in the pressure cooker with 31/2 cups of water for thirty minutes and seasoned with tahini and tamari.

Very satisfied
I've been making special buns that my cousin gave me the recipe for from Denmark. The flour and grains I ordered, including the buckwheat look great and taste great and I'm not normally someone who bakes, but this has been fun and Bob's red mill flour is perfect for my needs.

Great and gluten free!
I bought this to make Mushroom Buckwheat soup since I can't eat Mushroom Barley soup. It worked out very well. I used the Moosewood recipe and substituted the buckwheat for the barley and used GF soy sauce. It was delicious. My husband (who can eat gluten) loved it also.

This is an excellent product and has many uses in a good nutritional diet. One can fill pasta as a ravioli and I cook it and add it to my empanadas too. Good for a mixture of breakfast cereals.

The groats are fresh and good. I use them to make buckwheat bread, and it works out perfectly every time. The delivery was quick. Also, the customer service rep got back to me promptly when I had a question. There are cheaper options, but those are mostly grown in China and the quality is questionable. Overall, very happy with the quality.

Organic Buckwheat is the only carb I can eat due to my extreme food sensitivities. I make the groats and use them in breakfast, lunch and dinner. I use Bob's Buckwheat flour as well. I bake biscuits using just the flour and water in a buttered glass pan at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.

I would not survive without Bob's products.
