As the saying goes, blossom by blossom spring begins and so does Easter! Easter is a time filled with sunny days, gatherings with friends and family and chocolate eggs aplenty. If you’re planning to make your way to an Easter potluck, brunch or dinner this year, don’t show up empty handed! Instead, impress your guests with one of these appetizers for Easter. From fun carrot-shaped croissant cones to fancy vegan caviar, there’s something here for everyone — whatever your tastes may be!

Carrot-Shaped Croissant Cones

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog When it comes to cute Easter appetizers, nothing beats these adorable Carrot-Shaped Croissant Cones. The recipe comes courtesy of Amy Dingler from Marvelous Mommy and uses a croissant recipe adapted from the brilliant Julia Child. Fill these delicious cones with everything from chicken salad to coleslaw. If you have leftover hard boiled eggs from the big Easter egg hunt, fill them with egg salad! Make sure to garnish the tops with fresh parsley so they look like carrots. What we love about these is that if you’d rather go the route of a dessert, just fill your carrots with something sweet (and forego the parsley).

Pretzel Pigs in a Blanket

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog If you’re going to an Easter potluck with little ones, you’ll definitely want to whip up a batch of these Pretzel Pigs in a Blanket. Not only are they fun to make, they’re fun to eat, too! They call for ingredients like our Artisan Bread Flour, Organic Spelt Flour and cocktail franks (of course). To make these piggies extra tasty, make sure to bring them to your Easter gathering with an assortment of dipping sauces. Yellow mustard and ketchup are natural go-tos, but these quickly become a fancy bite for adults, too, with the addition of whole grain mustard and spicy ketchup. However you choose to serve them, rest assured that they will be devoured!

Vegan Caviar

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog If you’re on the hunt for Easter appetizers that are both fancy and tasty, this Vegan Caviar is the perfect pick. Petite French Green Lentils, minced capers (and caper brine), kelp powder, tamari and red miso come together for a protein-packed mock caviar that’s as good as the real thing. Follow this recipe for Gluten Free Blinis to use as a base for your caviar. They’re made with a mix of our Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour and Organic Buckwheat Flour, and if you’d like, they can be made dairy free by replacing the butter and milk with dairy free options. Pair your vegan caviar with a celebratory flute of chilled bubbles or sparkling water with a fresh lemon wedge.

Gluten Free Blooming Onion

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog This Gluten Free Blooming Onion is sure to make a statement when you walk in the door! It’s made with just six ingredients — Garbanzo Bean Flour, baking powder, seasoned salt, vinegar, water and one large Vidalia onion. It’s certainly different than what you’d find in a steakhouse! The onion bakes up soft and creamy and tastes divine inside its crisp and savory crust. Bring this Easter appetizer to your party or potluck alongside a veggie platter with hummus or a big bowl of greens with a drizzle of olive oil.

Bacon, Goat Cheese and Mixed Greens Flatbread

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog Flatbreads and pizzas are a hit at any gathering, and this Bacon, Goat Cheese and Mixed Greens Flatbread from Kaylin Perkins of Keep It Simple Sweetie is no exception! It’s made with our Organic Unbleached White All-Purpose Flour, bacon, creamy goat cheese and the spring flavors of mixed greens and green onions. It’s simple to throw together and works wonderfully as an appetizer that’s easy to transport (and easy to eat). If you’re going to a large gathering, make a couple of these and feel free to get creative with the veggies on top. Spring abounds with vibrant produce, so we’re sure whatever you choose will be crisp, colorful and flavor-filled.

Braided Easter Bread

If you’re going for a gorgeous presentation, this is one of the all-time best appetizers for Easter. This Braided Easter Bread comes to Bob’s Red Mill from Laura Russell of Make Life Lovely, and although it might look complicated to make, it’s actually super easy! It comes together with just 10 ingredients — sugar, Active Dry Yeast, salt, Organic Unbleached White All-Purpose Flour, milk, butter, eggs, oil and water — and chances are you already have most of them on hand at home. The true shining star of this bread is the hard boiled eggs, which you can customize and decorate however your heart desires. This is a fun appetizer to bake with kids, as they’ll be proud to present their final masterpiece to the potluck guests!

Leftover Mashed Potato Pierogies

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog Potatoes and Easter seem to go hand in hand and if you find you have any leftover mashed potatoes in your fridge, this is the perfect dish to create. These Leftover Mashed Potato Pierogies from Chef Billy Parisi are made with Unbleached White All-Purpose Flour, shredded cheddar cheese, mashed potatoes, butter, water and a pinch of salt. You can serve them whatever sort of goodies you have on hand at home, like chopped bacon, onions and parsley. As Billy notes, these freeze well, too, so make a big batch!

5 Ingredient Zucchini Fritters

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog In the early spring, zucchini flourishes at the farmers’ markets and grocery stores. That’s why these fantastic 5 Ingredient Zucchini Fritters are the perfect morsels to bring to Easter dinner. This recipe from Chef Billy Parisi is easy to make and is a great way to use up that squash! Shredded zucchini is mixed with egg, spices and Bob's Red Mill Organic Unbleached All Purpose White Flour before being fried in oil. The final topping of sour cream and fresh chives is what will really get guests talking. These are a great appetizer for parties, as they can be held and eaten with a napkin while people are mingling and chatting.

Sweet and Spicy Crispy Chickpeas (aka Garbanzo Beans)

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog These Sweet and Spicy Crispy Chickpeas are a fan-favorite anytime of year. Whether you’re making them for an Easter appetizer or an outdoor spring gathering, they bake up easy and are fun to snack on. You can use dried or canned garbanzo beans mixed with olive oil and sea salt. The seasoning of sugar, cinnamon, ground cardamom, chili powder and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes gives them a spiced yet subtly sweet flavor guests will love. If you don’t take all your chickpeas to your Easter gathering, transfer some to an airtight container for storage and enjoy them throughout the week.

Creamy Cannellini Bean Dip

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog This Creamy Cannellini Bean Dip takes only 15 minutes to throw together and is a wonderful alternative to cheese- or sour cream-based dips. It’s similar to hummus, but smoother in consistency, making it perfect to dip veggies like chopped bell peppers and green beans. To create it, you’ll need cannellini beans, salt, water, chopped fresh rosemary, garlic cloves, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. A sprinkle of red reasoning on top like paprika or cayenne pepper is pretty, too.

Blueberry and Feta Quinoa Salad

Festive Easter Appetizers | Bob's Red Mill Blog Although salads are sometimes thought to be side dishes to the meal, they can make for a beautiful appetizer when divided into small bowls as a light bite. For all the best flavors of the season, the Blueberry and Feta Quinoa Salad does the trick! Quick-cooking quinoa keeps time spent in the kitchen minimal, and the sweetness of plump spring blueberries combine well with the feta, diced cucumber, green onions and mint.
