This recipe is passed on to friends and acquaintances as a way to share excess sourdough starter. Here, sourdough starter is combined with flour, cinnamon and instant vanilla pudding mix to create a sweet loaf that's easy to make.
Preheat oven to 325°F. Lightly oil a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
In a small bowl, combine flours, 1 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pudding mix.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together sourdough starter, milk or buttermilk, eggs, oil and vanilla extract. Fold dry ingredients into the sourdough mixture until no streaks of flour remain. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
In a small bowl, combine remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon; sprinkle over the top of the loaf.
Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 1 hour.
