Ingredients

  • 1 package Fudgy Brownie Mix (397 g)
  • 3 Eggs, divided (150 g)
  • ½ cup melted Butter or Oil (115 g)
  • 1 Tbsp Water
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese, soft (227 g)
  • ¼ cup Sugar (60 g)
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ cup chopped Chocolate or Chocolate Chunks (optional) (about 60 g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Oil an 8-inch square baking pan and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, melted butter or oil, and water. Add brownie mix and stir until combined. Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
  3. In a clean mixing bowl, combine soft cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract and the remaining egg and beat until smooth. Drizzle cream cheese mixture over brownie batter in the pan.
  4. Drag a spatula or butter knife through the pan, creating deep swirls of brownie batter and cream cheese. Sprinkle chopped chocolate or chocolate chunks (if using) over the top of the black-bottom brownies and gently press into the batter.
  5. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean, 40–45 minutes. Let cool for 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
