Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 6-count jumbo muffin pan with paper liners. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
In a large bowl, mix banana, butter, brown sugar, egg, vanilla and milk. Add dry ingredients to wet and stir until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
Scoop into muffin cups. Top with extra chocolate chips, if using. Bake 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then unmold and cool completely on a rack.
