Ingredients

  • 1 package Decadent Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 1 Tbsp Orange Zest
  • ½ tsp Orange Extract
  • 3 Eggs
  • ½ cup Olive Oil
  • ¾ cup Whole Milk
  • ⅓ cup Sugar
  • ⅓ cup Water
  • Peel of 2 Oranges
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray a 6- or 10-cup Bundt pan with nonstick baking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine mix, zest, extract, eggs, olive oil and milk until smooth. Pour into prepared Bundt pan and bake for 40–50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. While cake is baking, prepare orange simple syrup. Combine sugar, water and orange peel in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, 2–3 minutes, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove orange peels and allow syrup to cool.
  4. Let cake cool in the pan for 5–10 minutes, then turn over and unmold on a wire rack. Immediately brush orange simple syrup all over the cake using a pastry brush, then sprinkle with remaining sugar to coat.
  5. Allow cake to cool completely before slicing and serving.
