Basic Preparation Instructions for Whole Wheat Pearl Couscous

Whole wheat pearl couscous are delightfully nutty, chewy balls of toasted whole wheat flour. This versatile alternative to pasta or rice is excellent in salads, or top with your favorite pasta sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Butter or Oil
  • 1 ½ cups Water
  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Pearl Couscous
  • ½ tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. If desired, toast the couscous in butter or oil for 3–5 minutes over medium heat before cooking. Bring 1 ½ cups water to a boil. Add 1 cup pearl couscous and ½ tsp salt. Return to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer, cover and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain off any remaining water.
