Amazing Nutrition
I have used other oat bran for muffins. I never expected to find just oat bran that could be a delicious hot cereal. One third cup makes a generous serving with 7 g of protein and 7 g of fiber. I like to cook it with dried fruit, then add nuts and a tiny bit of maple cereal. It doesn't work well for muffins, but I'm delighted with the cereal.

Longtime user and still healthy
I started eating oat bran for heart health and over ten-years later I prepare it every morning because I like it! Bob's is the best I've tried and I'll stick with Bob's as long as I can get it.

Bob's Oat Bran
I eat some of this twice a day. Add a scoop to my vitamin shake to add fiber. It has really helped digestive problems and hopefully is helping to bring down my cholesterol.

Great in any recipe
I've been replacing 1 Tbsp oat flour with oat bran (per cup) when making gluten free mixes and recipes. The change makes for a moister end-result and a more gut-friendly product. The only place I wouldn't do this is in very fine cookies or pastries as the oat bran would give a "off" texture.

Lower your cholesterol
I used to make oat bran muffins every 2 weeks, but that gets to be really burdensome so I stopped. Now I'm back with "oat bran the easy way." Who knew that with some sweetener, cinnamon, & dried cranberries, oat bran could be easy AND delicious? Will get my cholesterol checked in another month -- expect at least a 50 point lowering just from this.

This oat bran was highly recommended as the main ingredient in a recipe for horse treats. While trying to locate a local source, so many people suggested that I try it as a cereal. Asked my Dr. and he is a huge advocate also. My horses and I are going to be very healthy.

To soak or not? I've been adding 2-3 tablespoons to my morning smoothie (split with spouse) and was wondering if I should be soaking the oat bran in water overnight to maximize health benefits through digestion?!
A shopper on Apr 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I tend to soak the bran only about 10 minutes. I am not a nutrition expert to know what maximizes the digestion benefits. However, my muffin recipes suggest about a 10 minute soak, so I thought that would translate well for smoothies. I also will interchange golden flax seed in my smoothies. I have a BlendTec which grinds up the seeds very well.
How do you cook this cereal?
A shopper on Nov 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We live at 7,000 feet altitude, so I mix the appropriate amount of oat bran with the amount of water recommended along with a dash of salt. I cook it on the stove-top for about 3 minutes or so because of the altitude. No need to microwave it... it takes that long for the toast my husband likes with his cereal to be ready.
