It feels only fitting that Ben has shared something special from his own family kitchen for the holidays: the Napiers’ treasured icing recipe.

This icing is simple, fudgy and perfect for turning a classic pan of brownies into a festive centerpiece. With only six ingredients and taking just minutes to whip up, it's easy to make at home (see recipe below). Spread over your cooled brownies and let set to create a smooth, glossy finish that stacks beautifully on a dessert platter.

Ben Napier’s Family Icing Recipe

Ingredients

• 2 cups Sugar
• 3 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
• 1 Tbsp Corn Syrup
• 8 Tbsp Butter
• ½ cup Milk
• 2 Tbsp Vanilla

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add remaining ingredients and stir continuously.
2. When the mixture begins to boil, continue cooking without stirring for 3 minutes, or until it reaches 235-240°F on a candy thermometer. Remove the pan from the heat and place in a bowl of cold water. Stir or beat until the icing thickens.
