Fathers Day Desserts

Even dads have to be pampered a little on Fathers Day. If youre having a hard time figuring out what to get Daddio this year, why not go old-school in the kitchen and make him delicious food to eat? Below are five of our favorite dessert ideas to suit just about any tastes and make the man (or men) in your life feel extra special.

Chocolate Stout Cupcakes

Fathers Day Desserts | Bob's Red Mill Blog The real secret to these tasty goodies is in the stout or porter beer you add to the recipe. Combine that with espresso and cocoa and youve got a flavor that really pops. We use our unbleached white all-purpose flour and baking soda, along with ingredients like Greek yogurt, vanilla extract and orange zest to give it a citrus zing. Eggs, salt and butter, plus 2 cups of cane sugar, make up the rest of this recipe and once they are baked through, you can serve them up with your favorite icing (we recommend bourbon or vanilla buttercream), or smother them with whipped topping. These also pair well with a scoop of your dads favorite ice cream.

Gluten Free Cookies and Cream Cake

Fathers Day Desserts | Bob's Red Mill Blog Talk about a dreamy slice of gluten free heaven. Theres no dad on the planet that can turn down cake, especially a cake made by one of his favorite people just for him. This easy recipe is perfect for dads with gluten sensitivities, without sacrificing flavor or texture. To make it, we use our Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour, along with cocoa powder, a healthy dose of strongly brewed coffee, buttermilk and finely crumbled gluten free chocolate sandwich cookies, among other things. Baking soda and baking powder help give it a nice lift and we make the frosting using ingredients like cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla and more crumbled gluten free chocolate sandwich cookies. The end result after you bake? A cake that will taste so divine, your dad will think he just won the lottery.

Strawberry Shortcake

Fathers Day Desserts | Bob's Red Mill Blog For dads who dont really dig chocolate, why not try this yummy strawberry shortcake recipe instead? Its super simple and barely takes 30 minutes from start to finish to make. We use our own organic unbleached white all-purpose flour and simple ingredients like eggs, milk, salt, sugar, butter and baking powder. We sprinkle a bit of Turbinado sugar on the tops of the biscuits before baking, and once they are cooked and cooled, the filling and topping is made from sliced strawberries, water, sugar and whipped cream. Simple? Yes. Delicious? Double yes!

Coconut Layer Cake

Fathers Day Desserts | Bob's Red Mill Blog Of course, you know theres always those picky dads who dont like traditional cake flavors like chocolate or strawberry. But we bet they might enjoy a coconut layer cake! We make this recipe using baking soda, baking powder and our organic coconut flour mixed with a whopping nine eggs, butter, sugar, milk and sea salt, plus vanilla extract for a warm, subtle flavor. The icing is made with vanilla, milk, butter, powdered sugar and coconut flakes. The coconut flakes give this cake lots of texture and added flavor, so if your dad is a coconut fan, he will fall in love at first bite.

Pear Almond Toffee Cake

Fathers Day Desserts | Bob's Red Mill Blog For dads that just cant help but be a little different, this pear and almond toffee cake will blow them right out of the water, its so good. Its a bit more involved to make and takes more time, but the end result is well worth it. Its made with our almond flour and white all-purpose baking flour, loaded with fresh pears and full of the warm flavors of ginger, cinnamon and cardamom. We use Greek yogurt to help make it rich and moist, and you can even skip the homemade rum toffee sauce and go with store bought caramel sauce if youre short on time. This recipe is deceptively simple and ridiculously rich on the taste buds. To really up the wow factor for your beloved dad for his Fathers Day celebration, make sure you serve it warm with the sauce drizzled gently over the top.
