Banana Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
Typically, loads of sugar and sweet ingredients are used when making a cookie recipe. While this creates an undeniably sweet treat, it isn't the most nutritious. Aside from their great flavor, one of the things that we love most about these cookies is that they are on the healthier sideespecially when it comes to desserts. The secret ingredient, mashed banana, helps sweeten these cookies naturally so that not much added sugar is required. It also helps keep the cookies moist, reducing the amount of added butter. When using bananas for baking, the key is to use bananas that are a little overripe. Browning and overripe bananas are much sweeter than under ripe ones, making them the perfect baking ingredient. The other star ingredient of this recipe, oats, adds a hearty and chewy texture to the cookies, making them irresistible. Oats provide a boost of nutrition, as well as plant based protein and fiber. Lastly, chocolate chips are mixed into the cookie dough to add the perfect touch of sweet melt-in-your-mouth chocolate flavoring.
