Gifts in a Jar with Bob’s Red Mill Cooking School

By: Sophia Worgan | December 16 2017
With the holidays right around the corner we are always looking for creative, thoughtful gifts to give friends and family. I mean, you can only give so many Bob’s Red Mill Cooking School gift cards, right!? That’s why when one of our dedicated students at the cooking school, Alicia, proposed a holiday class, we jumped on it! The premise for the class Alicia proposed is that you can give your friends or family a Mason jar filled with decorative ingredients for cookies, brownies, or biscuits, along with the recipe! It turns into a delicious, festive, and thoughtful gift. We enlisted one of our favorite bakers, Katie Shyne, to teach this class and she has given us a glimpse into it. Check out Katie’s tasty holiday cookie recipes below for your friends and family! Have any other cool concepts for Bob’s Red Mill Cooking School? Email us at [email protected]!

Holiday Cookies in a Jar

Recipe created by Katie Shyne for Bob’s Red Mill Cooking School
  • 1 ½ cups Bob’s Red Mill All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • ¼ tsp Kosher Salt
  • ⅓ cups Light Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups White Sugar
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips or holiday M&Ms
Sift flour, baking powder, soda, and salt together, then pour into a two-quart Mason jar. Next, layer the sugars and chocolate chips or M&Ms decoratively on top. Tip: use a canning funnel to make layering neat and easy. Wrap the neck of your jar with decorative ribbon and create recipe stickers or handcraft them! Have fun with it, and have a happy holiday!!
