What Can You Make in a Vitamix

What Can You Make in a Vitamix

I am not going to lie: writing this article has gotten me completely on the Vitamix train. If you are in any way active on the internet (which you probably are, because this is a blog post you are reading) then there's little chance you haven't heard about the wonder of the almighty Vitamix blender yet. These machines have been pulverizing your thoughts on traditional blenders since 1985. when the first high-performance model was released, and their sterling reputation remains intact still today. If you have not jumped on the Vitamix bandwagon yet, then it is probably because the price tag is a little scary--at $400-plus a pop, these blenders are definitely an investment for your kitchen. What you may not realize, however, is all the different ways that you can actually use a Vitamix to recoup that investment every day! With a full 10-year warranty, these babies are built to last, and you can find ways to use them every single day if you think outside the blender! Keep reading for more ideas of what you can make in a Vitamix blender than you have ever imagined!

What Makes a Vitamix Different?

You probably understand the basic concept of a Vitamix, as it is technically just another blender. The true power of the Vitamix comes in the controlled vortex that the blades create inside the blender container. Vitamix has a larger variety of settings than normal blenders, and though there are not official studies, many chefs claim that the Vitamix blends more smoothly and consistently than any other on the market. You can use the Vitamix to make a wide variety of different textures, from silky purees to chunky salsas and anywhere in between. Plus, most blenders do not come with a 10-year warranty.

What Can You Make in a Vitamix?

A better question may be what cant you make in a Vitamix, as that list may be shorter! The Vitamix is known, like other blenders, for smoothies, but that is just one tiny capability among hundreds more. We have collected some of the favorite things to make in a Vitamix blender, so you can try them all and let us know which Vitamix recipes are your favorites!

Smoothies

A blender that makes smoothies?! No way! Obviously, this is the main focus when people discuss the Vitamix brand blenders, but they truly are some delicious smoothies. With fruits and veggies of all kinds, the Vitamix can truly handle pretty much anything you throw in it and makes quick work of even the toughest fruits and vegetables.

Juices

In a similar vein, the Vitamix can be used very similarly to a juicer. If you are considering investing in one or the other, the Vitamix may be a great option for you as it can still make delicious juices, with a host of other capabilities as well. The key here is that the Vitamix does not automatically separate out the pulp and fibers from the vegetables, so you have to do that manually. There is a great explanation of how to do that with a pair of tights in this post. We always recommend keeping the pulp in for extra health benefits, however, because that is where many of the nutrients and almost all of the fiber can be found. Start with a simple base like celery or cucumber, and then add all of your favorite veggies until its full! Fresh juice is the yummiest, plus you can always add some apples or melon to sweeten it up!

Dips

If you are a consummate party host, then the Vitamix will be your best friend in the dip department! This tool has several different settings to mix your dips to the right consistency, whether you are hoping for a chunky salsa or a smooth, creamy queso dip. Your possibilities are endless when it comes to Vitamix dips. We recommend starting with a creamy base, such as cheese, sour cream, or even hummus, and then adding in all of your favorite flavorings. Maybe top off your dip with some nuts or cracker crumbs and dig in!

Alternative Butters

Whether or not you actually have a peanut allergy, you cannot deny that alternative nut butters are delicious! You can always run to Whole Foods and whip up your own fresh almond butter, but with a Vitamix at home, you can just make it yourself fresh! The Vitamix makes easy work out of almonds, cashews, and other types of nuts. Plus, if you are feeling adventurous, you can always mix things up (literally) and try extra-alternative butters--we are talking next-level alternative--with nuts like macadamia and pistachio, or even seeds like sunflower seeds! Add some extra spices or flavorings for a brand new variety!

Alternative Milk

After you have eaten all the homemade almond butter you can possibly consume, use those leftover almonds to whip up some delicious almond milk! The fresher the better with milk, and the Vitamix makes it so easy. You made need some extra supplies like a nut milk bag, but you will no longer be paying an arm and a leg for your daily milk, and you can make exactly the amount you need, which is a huge bonus! This also works with cashews, coconut, or even hemp milk!

Soups

Soups and purees are a staple of the Vitamix. Who doesn't love a nice hot tomato soup on a winter day? The Vitamix takes care of this in under 10 minutes, and cold soups take even less time. The trick is that the blades of the Vitamix create friction when running for that length of time, and can even heat up your soup for you right in the blender. All you have to do is pour it into a bowl: it probably smells delicious, but please do not drink your hot soup right out of the blender!

Sauces

Store bought sauces often get tossed when they are still half-full, especially the more specialty varieties. With a Vitamix, you can save tons of money and time by making BBQ sauce, hot sauce, and even fancy mustard all at home. Plus, you will avoid all the preservatives and massive amounts of sugar in the common store-bought varieties.

Homemade Nutella

Need we say more? This token hazelnut chocolate spread is a staple on Vitamixs own website. They know, as we all know, that you cannot get enough of that delicious Nutella . . . oops, I mean Hazelnut Chocolate Spread. We'll just leave you with this one!

Blended Drinks

Now that you have saved so much money by making more use of your Vitamix, we think it is time to celebrate with some drinks. Maybe a daiquiri or a margarita? You deserve it! Blend your favorite fresh ingredients and ice to create a delicious treat. We do not recommend putting the alcohol directly into the Vitamix, as those flavors do not always wash out very well!

Ice Cream

In addition to replacing your blender, your juicer, and your frozen drink mixer, the Vitamix can also replace your ice cream maker for a delicious frozen treat. The key here is to include, as this author calls them, something icy and some liquid to get the right mix of ice and cream. Check out this methodology here and definitely invite me over to taste test!

Pizza Dough

Its not delivery, its Vitamix! The true difference between fresh and frozen pizza is definitely that perfect dough recipe and texture. If you microwave it, the dough can get so gummy, but a conventional oven, on the other hand, dries the dough a bit too much in most cases. The key here is to make your own dough for the best results, and the Vitamix can help you do that! Measure out your ingredients and blend the dough together until it stretches just enough to throw up and stick on the ceiling! Add your favorite toppings and buon appetito!

Vitamix Cleaner

Are you amazed at all the capabilities of the Vitamix yet? Perhaps one of the most impressive things about this tool is that it actually cleans itself! Many people do not know this, and making sticky recipes like nut butter or pizza dough can leave you scrubbing for days, or the classic leaving it to soak well into next week. The truth is, cleaning the Vitamix is extremely easy! You just add some warm water and some liquid dish soap and turn it on! Voila, no more soaking your blender! Phew, that is a lot of different things this handy little tool can make! After putting all of this together (and the hundred or so more that we did not have time to include here!), that $400 price tag is sounding a lot more reasonable. Plus, you will never have to invest in an ice cream maker, a bread machine, or a juicer for at least 10 more years . . . not to mention, you'll never run out of Nutella, and I always count that as a win!
