Happy National S'mores Day! No joke. I mean, who would even
joke about this??I took my kiddo camping for the first time over the weekend and his three-year-old eyes just about popped out of his head when he got to enjoy his first s'more.
Summertime just isn't complete without roasting marshmallows over a fire and smushing them between graham crackers and square of chocolate. Whether it's a campfire, a bonfire, or, in the case of a soggy summer night, a burner on the stove, s'mores are where it's at! It's no coincidence that the name is a contractionof the words "some" and "more."
While no one is entirely sure when this creation came into existence, it's been gracing camp outs since the 1920s, when it was simply known as a Graham Cracker Sandwich. Clearly, whoever took a look at marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers and thought to put them together is a genius.
To celebrate this simple culinary perfection, we've gathered up some of our favorite non-traditional, not-so-simple s'more recipes. If you can't have a bonfire, maybe those s'mores bars will do the trick? Get out there and have s'more!
