Organic Whole Wheat Flour is 100% stone ground from certified organic, U.S.—grown hard red. Nothing is lost in the process of grinding the flour—one pound of wholesome whole wheat berries go into the mill, and one pound of nutritious whole wheat flour comes out. The bran, germ and endosperm of the wheat kernel are all included. Our Organic Whole Wheat Flour is rich in dietary fiber and provides 7 grams of protein per serving. It is a good source of essential minerals including phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and iron.

    A couple of years ago, I started making Challah every Friday. Like most people, I started with what others had designed and then made it mine. Along the way organic whole wheat instead of white flour became desirable. Many brands were tried, tested and tasted. None has been consistently great in the mix as Bob's Red Mill Organic Stone Ground Whole Wheat has been.

    People that do not like whole wheat bread enjoy eating and asking for more(including children). For Shabbat Dinner(with as many as 14 guest)the challah has been nick named the disappearing challah.

    Once in a while I try a different make or model, it just doesn't work as well. I so far have not found its equal. Congratulations to Bob's Red Mill, well done.

    Just made low cal pancakes with this wheat flour and dark cacao powder. This flour was wonderful in them! I have also used it regularly for pie crusts and its so good. This is a very high quality product and an excellent substitution for white flour. Thanks Bob's Red Mill I love your products!!

  4. The best flour for bread.

    I've become a big fan of no-knead bread. I make a loaf of whole wheat bread one or two times a week. The first few loaves I made this fall were great, but the next several were heavy and less tasty. I tried adding a bit of sugar to help the yeast work. I tried adding more water. Less water. I tried letting the dough rise where it was warmer. Where it was cooler. I changed yeast brands. I added a bit of oil.

    Nothing helped. The dough didn't rise as much and the bread denser and not as flavorful as I knew it could be.

    Could it be, I asked, the flour? The first few loaves I made used Bob's Red Mill. Then I tried another brand.

    I just switched back to Bob's. Today's loaf is light and moist, with a great grain flavor.

    I am a scientist, and I did what amounts to a controlled study this fall. The net result: The flour matters. And Bob's is the best.
