To celebrate our 25th anniversary and our enduring dedication to being the nation's leading miller of healthy whole grain foods, we unveiled our beautiful new Whole Grain Store and Visitors Center. The 15,000 square-foot facility is a stunning addition to Portland's many attractions, featuring an 18-foot high operational water wheel, displays of historic milling equipment, and a working stone mill using French buhr millstones from the 1800's.

The retail store offers more than 300 Bob's Red Mill products, kitchen essentials and a wide variety of all-natural items from regional manufacturers like Columbia Gorge Organics, Oregon Spice, and Willamette Valley Fruit Growers. In addition, there is a bookstore and state-of-the-art kitchen classroom for cooking classes taught by regionally and internationally renowned instructors. The Whole Grain Store & Visitors Center also features a from-scratch bakery and breakfast and lunch cafe using Bob's Red Mill's own products. Visitors to this first-class facility will discover the widest diversity of whole grains, flours, cereals, mixes and baking supplies available in the world. Shoppers can ship purchases on premises anywhere in the country.

The store opening is the fulfillment of a dream for founder Bob Moore who started the business in a historic flour mill near Oregon City to preserve the ancient craft of stone milling and to grind whole grains for the local community. Bob and his wife Charlee searched America for special stones used in century-old mills that would become the company's foundation for milling simple, wholesome, whole-grain foods. With continuous growth and perseverance, they overcame a devastating fire in 1988 and then, at nearly 60 years of age, Bob rebuilt his company in Milwaukie, Oregon using the stones saved from the fire.

"This is a proud moment for Bob's Red Mill," said Bob. "We started this company with a dream to support the health and well-being of the community and, 25 years later, we have built a strong foundation in whole grain nutrition across the nation. Now we can share the history of stone milling and provide a first-hand look at how our hundreds of products can be used."
