Wheat Germ is the nutritious heart of the wheat berry. It is a good source of folate, vitamin E, and thiamin. Add wheat germ to cereal, smoothies, and baked goods for increased nutrition.

Details

Wheat Germ is the nutritional heart of the wheat berry. With wheat germ, freshness is what counts. Add our high-quality germ to baked goods, use as a filler for meat loaves and balls, or to coat cookies, rolls, and breads, top a casserole, replace breadcrumbs- the uses are numerous. Just use your imagination! Because the natural oils are retained in wheat germ, refrigerate it to maintain freshness and nutrition.

Fresh, raw wheat germ
This is fresh and raw, so don't expect the same taste as commercial toasted and sweetened kind. I add it to other cereals to boost nutrition and flavor.

Wonderful nutty & sweet flavor
This wheat germ is the best! It is so fresh, with a nutty sweet flavor. Add to smoothies, muffins, cookies, the possibilities are endless. For a healthy treat use 2 teaspoons of each-wheat germ, sesame seeds & sunflower seeds (you can also add oats)-sprinkle with cinnamon & drizzle with honey- stir in a small cup & just eat it!

Great!
I purchased this because it is an ingredient in Bob's excellent granola recipe. I also use it to add to all my whole grain cereals. The quality is excellent.

This is a great way to bring back the vitamins and minerals that are missing from refined flour. If the mill kept this in your flour, it wouldn't keep as long and you'd be tossing it before you were able to use it all. I buy small packages of wheat germ, keep it in my refrigerator and add small amounts to cookies, bread and any recipe that could use a flavor and a nutrition boost. Remember to test it regularly before you use it, if you keep it on the shelf.

I would like to make a potato bread and add this on top as a crunchy topping. My recipe is asking for shredded wheat. Does that work or you recommend any other product?
Sandra W on Dec 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I think although wheat germ has a nice flavor, it is probably too fine tho give the crunch you are looking for. You might try some multi-grain hot cereal and/or flax seed or flax seed meal.

Does anyone have a recipe for fermenting wheat germ and how you store it afterward?
Jill S on Jan 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Jill, I'm guessing you found your answer, but if not I would check out online. I recently stumbled upon a great site regarding cultures -- which I cannot cite, I'm afraid -- and they seem to be a great resource for a multitude of things. Maybe the Google Gods can get you in the right direction. Good luck!
Is this raw, not toasted?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2017
