Portraits of Longevity - Dorothy Pearl Tiede

The person that inspires me is my mom, Dorothy. She is 88 years old and is truly the "energizer bunny". She was a teacher with a 2 year teacher's certificate and my 1st and 2nd grade teacher in a one-room school in South Dakota. She went on to get her bachelor's degree teach Special Education, got her Master's Degree, taught college level classes in Special Ed and got her Doctorate Degree and became assistant to the Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Then she got a tumor in her eye had laser treatments and decided she always wanted to be a minister! So she went to seminary and became one...saved a simple country church from closing down and continued to do ministerial services as needed. She has 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, drives a sports car and models for Christopher & Banks for fun. She continues to face life with a smile and even puts smiley faces on her checks when she pays bills. She always takes care of her health and demands the best care from her medical care-givers. She watches what she eats and still loves cooking for the whole family. Good food equals love. I learned to never question what a woman can do. I never ever felt like being a girl was anything to slow me down.
