Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease two cookie sheets and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Chop pecans into coarse pieces and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth, then blend in water and vanilla. Beat eggs and add to butter mixture. Stir flour mixture into the egg and butter mixture. Add cereal and all remaining ingredients. Mix well.
  4. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. Bake 10 - 12 minutes. When done, edges should be light brown.



    Yield 24 cookies.

      I’m sorry to hear that you did not prefer the consistency of our 5 Grain Cookies. For a crispier cookie, you may be interested in using oil in place of the butter.

    I really liked the taste of the cookies, but I did have to add an additional 1/2 cup of flour as the batter was way to runny. I also baked them a bit longer (about 15 min) to get a nice crisp edge.

    I had the same result as Karen B – runny dough. I suspect the 1/2c water in the recipe is intended to hydrate the grains. If I try this again, I may soak the grains in 1/2c boiling water for 10 mins before adding to see if it improves the dough and softens the grains, as I found they were quite chewy in this version.
