I bought a bag at fleet farm store and tried eating out of the bag like I do most nuts. The shell was too brittle. Since I think they were probably roasted and salted, what do I need to do to soften the shell to make them more edible.i read that they were good for our health so decided to try some.
Any recommendations will be appreciated
You can try boiling the seeds to soften them up a bit; bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes or so, drain, pat dry or air dry. You can try them as-is after boiling, or you can re-roast them if you prefer.
Thank you for your comments. Will try boiling them again. Is the pit called pepitas? They are also available at Fleet Farm
