I was wondering about adding some arrowroot in an einkorn bread recipe to give it better rise. Would that be possible? How much would I put in for 3 1/2 cups of whole grain einkorn flour?

Melissa

Hi!
If I am planning on using the arrowroot starch for baking- how do I make the slurry without negatively effecting the other components of the recipe?

Whitney BarnesMelissa

Hi Melissa, you would use arrowroot starch like flour or cornstarch to thicken a liquid (soup, gravy, etc.)

It can be used in the same amount. Remove a small portion of your cooking liquid, whisk in the arrowroot until combined then add the slurry to the cooking liquid.

I want to make sugar cookies using 1/2 unbleached org. wheat flour and 1/2 arrowroot flour.. is that oK?

Janet desmarais

I'm trying to can apples for pies, but all recipes say use " clear jel". I looked it up and it's chemically modified corn starch, I'm not really sure I want to use that

Kimberly

I want to make a DIY deodorant and the recipe calls for arrowroot powder…. Can I use this arrowroot powder?

I want to bake a cake using bob's red mill all purpose flour and i want to know how much arrowroot flour i can use for 3 cups of the all purpose flour ...dont want to use xanthan gum

Whitney BarnesHeda

Hi Heda, unfortunately Arrowroot Flour/Starch is not a direct substitute for All Purpose Flour.

Since arrowroot is not a direct substitute for wheat flour, what would be a good alternative? And what would be the ratios- 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, etc.?

CINDY FEINZIMER

Can arrowroot help thicken Coconut milk when mixed with a hand mixer or stand mixer?

Whitney BarnesCINDY FEINZIMER

Hi Cindy! For the Arrowroot Starch to thicken a liquid, it will need to be heated. I'm not sure what type of recipe you're making, but you'd likely need to mix a slurry of Arrowroot Starch and a small portion of coconut milk together, then incorporate the thick slurry into the rest of the coconut milk. Heat the mixture to thicken. If you have more questions, please email us at CustomerService@bobsredmill.com

Sarah K. Settle

I would like to make my rhubarb crumble with arrowroot instead of white flour. The recipe calls for 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, 2/3 cup sugar, 1/2 cup oats and 6 tablespoons butter for the topping. Can I replace 3/4 cup arrowroot for the 3/4 cup flour? Thanks.

Whitney BarnesSarah K. Settle

Hi Sarah! It sounds like it should all work, though the texture and flavor may be a bit different than that of white/wheat flour.
