- Unlike many other split yellow peas I have bought these peas are very fresh. I tried for several months to make Ethiopian pea stew but the peas I purchased in bulk from the supermarket would not soften. Then I bought Bob's Red Mill yellow peas and the difference was amazing. The peas cooked in 40 minutes just as suggested. I will definitely purchase this product again!
