Mix textured vegetable protein granules and boiling water and allow to sit 5-10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, stirring well.
Make burgers by pressing and placing 1/2 cup mixture in a nonstick, vegetable sprayed skillet over medium-low heat. Cover pan with a lid and cook until browned on both sides (approximately 8 minutes each side).
Serve plain or topped with barbecue sauce or cheese; serve on a bun with lettuce and traditional burger fixings. Makes 5 servings.
