Microwave: In a large bowl, combine cracked rye, salt, and water. Cover and microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes, watching carefully so that it does not boil over. Let stand for 2 minutes. Makes 1 serving.
Stove top: In a medium saucepan, bring water and salt to a boil. Add cracked rye and reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve with milk and honey. Makes 4 servings.
