Organic Quick-Cooking Steel Cut Oats are whole oat groats that have been cut into several tiny pieces for a quicker-cooking porridge ready to eat in just about 7 minutes.

Details

Organic Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats are simply whole, organic oat groats that have been cut into neat little pieces on a specialized rotary granulator mill. We use whole grain oats that have been lightly toasted to create our hearty steel cut oats. Also known as Irish oats or pinhead oats, steel cut oats create a chewy, full-bodied hot cereal. Steel Cut Oats have always been a universal customer favorite at Bob's Red Mill. Their robust oat flavor, texture and ease of preparation make them a perfect breakfast.

Our Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats are cut a little smaller than our regular Steel Cut Oats, making them ready to eat in a scant 5 to 7 minutes. These oats make a delightful hot cereal when you're on the go! They're the quick version of the World's Best Oatmeal®, two-time winner of the Golden Spurtle in the World Porridge Making Championship in Carrbridge, Scotland!

Excellent Oats
Excellent! I’m so happy to find such a great source of organic whole grains. The quick steel cut oats are so easy to cook. I soak one cup overnight in 2 cups of water and add 1 more cup of water before cooking them for 5 minutes in the microwave and they’re creamy and delicious.

Steel Cut Oats are nutty, chewy and delicious- nothing at all like the library paste texture of the familiar hot cereal from our childhoods. Try it with a tablespoon of old-fashioned peanut butter, some blueberries and a sprinkle of toasted chopped walnuts, topped off with milk!

I use to buy the Bob's Steel Cut Oats but it takes too much time to cook. your co suggested that i try these quick cooking oats, still steel cut, and cannot find them anywhere. I purchased McCann's at store and like the ease of quick cooking but still wanted to try Bob's. I find this is a fine product and helps with digestion.

I'm have problems with the oats boiling over in the microwave. The directions say to use a "large" bowl and cover. What is a "large" bowl? The last container I tried was a 1 qt. Pyrex bowl and it still boiled over. I love steel cut oats but after trying to cook up one serving in different containers and failing at all of them I'm at my wits end.
A shopper on Jan 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Howdy! Please don't cook your oats in the microwave. Use a pan with 1 cup of oats and 2 cups of water. Let the water boil and pour in the oats - reduce to a simmer. In just 7 minutes your oats are done - put a lid on the pan a let it steep for 5 minutes. No boil over. Microwaving is a bad practice for just about anything. It kills the enzymes in vegetables and basically ruins water. If you must microwave - cook the oats in a pan the night before - put your bowl(s) in the fridge - then in the morning microwave the bowl with the precooked oats in it,
I hope that helps.
quick cooking steel cut oats can they be used in crock pot overnight cooking methods?
Melanie L on Nov 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, yes they can. I have the longer cooking ones and these.... though these are quicker they appear to have been rolled a bit but not steamed like normal rolled Oats (Red mill please correct me if I m wrong)
I m actually looking for a rice cooker as opposed to a slow cooker but since I m in the UK the supply of Bobs Red Mill Oats and a suitable cooker is tricky for me to get my hands on. So far I ve been soaking and cooking according to instructions but haven’t actually achieved my best result. However Bobs Red Mill is the best quality I ve had but still need to do some tweaking to get it right.
can organic quick cooking steel cut oats be substituted in recipes calling for Quaker quick oat.....I'm thinking for cookies?
Diane B on Nov 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The steel cut are like groats, and not like rolled flakes. When I make oatmeal porridge, I use half of each, for texture variation. I haven't made cookies myself, but I like the big flakes (rolled) in oatmeal cookies. Never tried steel cut, but they would make an interesting texture... Good luck!
Are the quick cooking steel cut oats processed in any way? If so what nutrition is lost as a result of the processing?
A shopper on Oct 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Our Quick Cooking Steel Cuts are produced on a specialized mill to be smaller and thinner than traditional steel cut oats. There is no nutrition lost, the pieces are simply a bit flatter to provide extra surface area which allows for faster cooking time.

Quality. Integrity. Tradition.
