Good Grain
These days working with a grain mill in the kitchen. I have baked my own bread for years and it's a real kick to be able to mill grain and add that much more control to the whole process. Bobs Red Mill comes through again with a top rate product. I shall be returning to restock once I have used this order, I have no doubt.

Terrific whole grain goodness
Whoever got the idea that white bread was proper human nutrition sure didn't do us a favor. Use these products, care for yourself better.
I grind all my berries: wheat, barley, rye and oat groats to make really dark, dense, delicious breads and deserts. The wheat is something I count on for gluten, fiber and other proteins and it delivers.
Use your head, go whole grain.

We are going to try grinding it to make bread. We have never tried baking with freshly ground wheat and we heard the difference is pronounced! (And because it is organic.

Reviews of quality, cleanliness of product, past use of BRM items.
Need for organic items; A decrease in wheat harvests with increased costs.
Please focus on more organic, (non GMO, G Engineered, Genetically modified...whatever the "newest" trend is/may become), and I do not want any spraying of my grains before harvesting. I only want clean food.

I make wheat berry salads (which I love) and I grind my own whole wheat flour. You can taste the difference in breads. I ordered on line because none of the local stores can be counted on to have this in stock; paying you $9.99 to ship is a lot easier than a goose chase. And I loaded up on oatmeal while I was at it.

I have bought these frequently and this brand is of the best quality I have found. I use wheat berries on their own as a side dish as well as a mix with brown rice, rye berries and whole wheat berries for my own "pilaf"

I use these wheat berries to make freshly ground whole wheat flour. Fresh flour makes bread taste so much sweeter than flour that's been sitting on a shelf!
Martha F on Dec 11, 2017
I have a stone-grind flour mill and I bake bread every week. For freshness and flavor, I would prefer to buy my wheat whole and grind it just-in-time for baking. I am guessing that as a hard red wheat, this would be high-gluten and therefore good for bread baking. I would like to be baking with a heritage wheat (e.g. Red Fife, Banatka or Sirvinta) and this is the closest I can get from Bob's Red Mill.
Shelah H on Dec 11, 2017
This is a fine berry. It mills well, tastes great and is priced right.

This is healthy way to put wheat in your diet because it is unprocessed. Makes great salads and is also perfect to add to soups.

can I substitute wheat berries for hulled barley?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't substitute wheat berries for hulled barley, because cooked wheat berries chewy. Part of what I like about cooked barley is it's softness and "slipperiness" in my mouth, which wheat berries won't provide. But cooked wheat is delicious and can be served as hot cereal. It is good as the main ingredient in a wheat salad (think "tabouli," though I prefer cracked wheat for that). Wheat berries can be substituted for the beans in a from-scratch baked bean recipe and are delicious that way.
Can I sprout these berries?
hoa d on Oct 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. In addition to cooking them for myself, I regularly throw some in a pot with soil and water to grow grass for my cat.
My local source closed and i am looking for larger quantities of the hard red wheat berries. Might you be able to provide 5 - 10 # at a time at a bulk price?
A shopper on Oct 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can buy these in 25 lb bags by calling us at 800-349-2173.
