Awesome Grain
I tried this due to the protein and fiber that it contains and was surprised at how delicious this is. I use this for breakfast along with lunch and dinners. Makes a great nutritious substitute for rice or pasta. Delicious as a cold salad or warm side dish. My boyfriend even liked it and there is not much that he likes other than meat and potatoes!!!

I first read about freekeh in Plenty by Yotam Ottolenghi but could not find it locally. Bob's Red Mill is a convenient source and their product is organic. It is a welcome whole grain which cooks quickly, since it is cracked, and has an interesting flavor and texture. It is good plain like rice or it makes an interesting pilaf.

Comfort food
Tried this for the first time and liked it so much I ordered a few more bags. It’s like comfort food. I cooked it in unsalted broth, then, sautéed a portion with olive oil, garlic, onions, and veggies. It was filling and good. Lots of fiber and protein, light nutty flavor.

First time using this grain. Like it a lot! Texture & flavor is great. Better choice than bulgur.

Actually just opened it today. smelled a bit stale and could not finish it. may not be a good choice for breakfast (your steel cut oats are hard to beat). I may try it for a base for marinara and if it still I off flavor, either I dot like it or it was stale. 1st time I have ever had it

Great discovery!
I tried this grain without knowing much about it! It quickly became one of my favorites. I like to cook it in a medley with quinoa, Farro and bulgur in chicken/vegetable broth. I boil lentils separately , then fold them in with the grain mixture. With a salad or cooked veggies on the side, you have a wonderfully delicious meatless meal.

wonderful
Freekeh has a chewy texture with a slight saltiness, very savory. I like it plain as a side dish, but have also used it in a stir fry and placed it in stews. My favorite ancient grain by far!

Freekeh is a very tasty and versatile grain. I use it a lot, cooking it in our rice cooker. I carry bags of freekeh with us in our RV when we travel. Of course, it is a healthy grain.

I want to see if this is the hot cereal my grandmother used to make. She would fix a nutty grain that she cooked on stove top boiled down with water for my breakfast in the 1960's. She called it Wheat Germ cereal but I've tried Wheat Germ and that is not it. I'm hoping this could be it!
