Ingredients date pieces coated with oat flour

*Manufactured in a facility that also uses tree nuts, soy, wheat, and milk

Date Pieces are bits of dates (slightly larger than our Date Crumbles) with a special oat coating to keep them from sticking together. Use this deliciously sweet dried fruit in granola, trail mix, cakes, muffins and cookies, or as a topping for oatmeal or yogurt.

Details

Date Pieces (Oat Covered) are a little larger than our Date Crumbles, and can be used the same way. Since they're larger in size than crumbles, they're easier to pick up when used in trail mixes, or eaten as a nutritious snack.

Did not like the product
The product did not look fresh. When I looked for some kind of use by or expiration date, did not find it on the package.
Could be that is just how it looks, but disposed of it anyway.
All of the other products I purchased were fine.

Finally, excellent date pieces
Have tried date pieces from a number of other stores, including Whole Foods and other area fresh markets. These are always moist but not sticky and very flavorful.

I like to add date pieces to my hot cereal. Also, a mystery ingredient in my famous sweet potato and roasted pears side dish.

Would you soak these pieces when a recipe calls for soaking dates in hot water? Seems that would nullify the purpose of the coating but not provide the date water that results.
Sharon F on Nov 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I soak them if the recipe suggests that. Specifically, I use this as the sweetener in my favorite granola recipe and I soak them in hot water, then blend with tahini in my vitamix. Anyways, hope this helps!
