Cranberry Beans have a creamy texture and wonderfully nutty flavor. Use as you would pinto beans in chili or for baked beans.


Much sweeter and more delicate in taste than common pintos or kidney beans, these beautiful Cranberry Beans are popular in Italian, Portuguese and Greek cuisine and are often known as "borlotti" beans. These beautiful, light colored beans with cranberry speckles are creamy in texture and have a mild, nutty flavor.

Cranberry beans are delicious and an excellent nutrient-dense food. They're a rich source of dietary fiber, protein and iron, and are packed with vitamins and minerals. Cranberry beans are low fat and sodium, and are cholesterol free.

Cranberry beans are perfect for salads, soups, pasta fagioli, casseroles, stews, rice and whole grain dishes, and bean spreads. Use as you would pinto beans in chili or for baked beans. A favorite Italian tradition is serving them at room temperature with olive oil, lemon juice and chopped fresh parsley as a part of an antipasto tray, paired with olives, cheese and Italian sausage. Cranberry beans
These are hard to find. So full of flavor like to use these in place of white beans. I pressure can them so they are ready to use.

Glorious Beans
These beans are dappled with beautiful raspberry markings before cooking- oh they’re so pretty. During cooking, the pigmentation fades away but the beans are creamy and comforting with a deep comforting mellowness. I love them and all the precious nutrients they provide. Have become one of my favorites and they are very versatile- can be used in any way your imagination concocts! Thanks for the opportunity to rave.

Haven't tried these yet, but they look fresh and clean. Anxious to try them as bean soup, refried beans, and chili beans. They look a lot like pinto beans, except they have red spots in them. A few small red beans were also in the package.

While my daughter and her friend were visiting from Zambia, they were looking for special beans to eat, since they are used to eating beans in their country. These beans were very special, delicious. I was a thrilled that both girls enjoyed them as much as we did.

Like pintos but better
Bought these because the store didn't have pintos. They looked like pintos but larger and redder. I'd never had them before. These are delicious! I'm Mexican and was raised eating pinto beans. These taste like pintos but better. My mom and I said we won't go back to pintos now lol. Creamy, tasty, love them!

When you are a vegan it is beyond nice to get a bean that cooks well and loves to be surrounded by a medley of vegetables. I use a lot of green veggies plus carrots and potatoes, then throw in about a cup of my favorite salsa. It is a gourmet meal!

How long do I soak dried beans in cold water?

The question of how long to soak beans has many answers. Key things to consider include type of bean, the type dish being prepared (e.g. soup or bean casserole, etc.) and who will be consuming them. Some people have great difficulty digesting beans, and suffer intestinal discomfort. For older people it is often best to soak the beans in warm water (100-120 degrees F) for an hour or so, rinse, repeat with warm water again, and then do either a final soak or simply cook – depending on your intended use and time available.
The classic response on how to prepare beans follows this note.

Pick through the beans, discarding any discolored or shriveled beans or any foreign matter. Rinse well.

Soak with one of these methods:
Hot Soak or Quick Soak: “Hot soaking” helps dissolve some of the gas-causing substances in beans and most consistently produces tender beans. In a large pot, add 10 cups of water for each pound (2 cups) of dry beans. Heat to boiling; boil for 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and soak for at least 1 hour (Quick Soak) or up to 4 hours (Hot Soak).
Traditional Overnight Soak: This is the easiest method. Place dry beans in a large container; for each pound (2 cups) beans, add 10 cups of cold water. Cover and soak overnight.

Drain and rinse beans after soaking with fresh, cool water. Then cook as desired.
How long would I cook these in a pressure cooker?

BEST ANSWER: I've cooked these in my Instant Pot at a ratio of 2 cups dry beans to 4 cups water) for 70 to 130 minutes with good results. You should definitely refer to your cooker manual, though. Times should bee comparable to cooking Navy or Kidney beans.
Does anyone know if the recommended serving size is based on dry or cooked beans?
