Edible Christmas Gifts

’Tis the holiday season, and what better way to celebrate it than to create delicious and tasty gifts to pass around to all your loved ones? Treats and desserts are gifts that please even the hardest of hearts (and their taste buds). If you’re at a loss for ideas, why not start with one of these recipes? We believe these edible Christmas gifts are a blessing your recipient won’t soon forget.

Homemade Caramel Sauce

Is there anything more delicious than homemade caramel sauce? We don’t know, but we’re pretty sure it’s hard to top. This caramel sauce makes a great Christmas gift that your recipients can enjoy on cake, pies and ice cream, or how about a delicious dip for some crisp and crunchy apple wedges? The sky is the limit with this one. The recipe is super simple too, using just four ingredients. Butter, cream, vanilla extract and brown sugar. Pour your masterpiece in a festively decorated little jar, and you’ve got the perfect gift for family, friends or your office’s secret Santa swap.

Snowy Gingerbread Christmas Trees

If you’re not a caramel fan, why not try these delicious gingerbread Christmas trees instead? They are chewy, tasty and fun, which pretty much checks all the gift criteria boxes in our opinion. The cool thing is you can experiment with different shapes to create your “trees.” You can stack stars or try stacking other shapes and see how they turn out. Just don’t skimp on the icing, because that could be the best part of all. These cookies are made using organic unbleached white all-purpose flour, along with ingredients like dark brown sugar, baking soda, cloves, ginger and cinnamon, plus the rich flavor of unsulphured molasses. The homemade icing is made from meringue powder, powdered sugar, lemon juice and water. Sounds a little odd using lemon juice with gingerbread cookies, but give them a try. We know you won’t be disappointed!

Sweet and Salty Chocolate Almonds

Edible Christmas Gifts _ Bob’s Red Mill Okay, everyone knows people go nuts over nuts! Especially when they are sweet and salty like these yummy chocolate almonds. Not only do you get a little protein power with every bite, you get a dab of healthy fats, plus all the antioxidant juju found in cocoa powder and semi-sweet chocolate chips to boot. Turbinado sugar, ground cinnamon and a pinch of chili powder add pizazz to these little gems. Try bagging them in little festive Christmas baggies, or pick up some red net baggies and tie them off with some green ribbon. Pass them out to all your favorites and they might just love you forever!

Deluxe Demerara Soft Caramels

In case you can’t get enough of caramel for the holidays, why not try making these deluxe demerara soft caramel candies for a Christmas gift idea? Just melt our turbinado sugar with honey and water, then mix in cream, butter, salt and vanilla extract. Pour the mixture into a pan and allow it to set for at least an hour. Once it’s set, you can cut it up however you like, wrap the pieces in parchment paper and pass them along to friends and family.

Glazed Cranberry Orange Bread

Just about everyone loves a good fruit loaf. This glazed cranberry and orange “quick bread” is not only delicious, it makes an excellent gift too. It’s made using our organic unbleached white all-purpose flour, along with baking soda, sugar, eggs, buttermilk and flavorings like vanilla extract, orange juice, organic zest and fresh cranberries. The result is a sweet, moist, orange-flavored loaf of bread peppered with tangy cranberries and topped with a homemade orange glaze made from butter, orange juice, vanilla extract and powdered sugar. To give it out as a holiday gift, pre-slice it or wrap it up as-is, and top the packaging with a festive Christmas bow or ribbon.

Red Velvet Cake Pops

For something a little different, try making these gluten free red velvet cake pops as your next gift idea. These little morsels are made with organic coconut flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder and buttermilk, among other things. Homemade vanilla frosting mixed into the cake crumbs make these little treats extra sweet. Add a pinch of sea salt to help bring out the flavors and create a candy coating made from chocolate mint and white chocolate candy melts and sugar sprinkles. Use lollipop sticks or wooden skewers and once coated in chocolate and sprinkled with toppings, allow them to harden and dry. Isn’t Christmas fun? Try one of these edible Christmas gifts this holiday season and get your ho, ho, ho on.

We do not, but you can make your own: for every 1 cup of flour, add 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt.
