Cookbook Extravaganza + 100 Best Gluten Free Recipes {Giveaway}

Wow. How did November sneak up on me this year? Maybe I was so focused on Halloween that I forgot November came right after it? Or I’m just getting older and time is just going faster. Either way, November is here and everyone in the office is talking about Thanksgiving dishes and Christmas shopping. To make both of those things a little easier this year, I’ve got some sweet cookbooks to giveaway. We did this last year in December, but I’m starting it earlier this year- that way, if you win, you have time to use it or time to gift it to someone special.

Here are what will be up for grabs over the next 7 weeks. We’ve reviewed several of these before, so I’ve linked to our old posts so you can get more info.

This week, we’re going to giveaway a copy of Carol Fenster’s 100 Best Gluten Free Recipes. All we need to say about this book is that it’s the very best of Carol’s extensive work boiled down into one beautiful full-color book. Each recipe is easy to follow and uses ingredients you recognize. As with all of her books, Carol provides a great introduction to eating gluten free with tips and tricks for navigating the gluten free diet.

I am intimidated by the Turkey….will it be done in time, will it be over cooked, will it be undercooked, will the skin be crispy, will it be ready when all the other dishes are ready, is it big enough to send everyone home with leftovers, is it going to fit in the oven with all the other dishes, it it too soon to defrost or will it thaw in time…..Will there be enough drippings to compare with my mom’s famous gravy.

I was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease a few months ago.

I am a little intimidated by coming up with a good alternative for green bean casserole! I know, I know, it’s quite a simple dish, but those darn crunchy onions are the key to making it oh so tasty. Going to have to be creative this year!

Most cooking does not intimidate me but now that I need both a Gluten Free diet as well as a low glycemic diet, deserts intimidate me. I’ve always had a sweet tooth and my family’s tradition has been to have a pie buffet for the evening following the bird fest earlier in the day. I need GF low glycemic recipes that taste good.

Stuffing. My fiancee believes his Mother’s stuffing is the best in the world. I failed miserably while trying to recreate it last year. Since then I had to start eating gluten free….. and now comes the stuffing challenge!

I would have to say the stuffing is the most intimidating thing for me to make gluten free. I mean, it’s all about the bread and gluten free falls short in so many ways… But I just discovered Bob’s Red Mill whole grain bread mix (gluten free) and it is fantastic. Now to see if there is a mix that is suitable for stuffing 🙂

The turkey! Everything about cooking a turkey intimidates me. Growing up I watched my grandmother do it for years. Since, I’ve watched other relatives, yet somehow managed to get out of the duty (whew!). But, as I near 30, I know my day will come and I’m just plain scared. How do you make it just right and insure that it’s good? I don’t know, but I’ll face that hurdle soon enough! Any help!??!!

The Stuffing. This will be my third year trying to make gluten free stuffing and I am intimidated by it because my family and I have not figured out a way to make great gluten free stuffing yet.

I have a friend who has two young children are gluten intolerant and I am trying to support and encourage her, so I don’t actually have a favorite gluten free product, though I would likely try the Sorghum flour first. I’m not a fan of turkey but my family loves it. I can’t even begin to imagine how to cook a whole turkey. Thankfully, I’m only responsible for sides and desserts. 🙂

My fav thing to do is to cut our left over pumpkins into tiny strips and dehydrate them. Once dehydrated – a handful of them added to any soup, stew or sauce makes any recipe so much richer. And no one ever says, “This tastes like pumpkin.”
I do that because making a pumpkin pie is my least favorite pie to make – I never can get it right using fresh pumpkins.
We’re newly informed and just beginning our gluten free lives so the cookbook would be a wonderful gift.

I am new to g-free cooking. I am enjoying cooking from scratch more. I had really fallen into using lots of processed and convenience foods. I am not only feeling better, I have discovered a whole new hobby!

by far the thanksgiving main attraction, the turkey, followed by its sidekick, the stuffing is what i dread making every year! I’m trying to start eating gluten free this year, just not sure how to start!

celiacs has been difficult to handle esp.since most products contain gluten even spices;but Bob’s products have been one of the rare products i can use-thank goodness.i especially like the coconut products-one of my favorite is the coconut flour.

Stuffing is EASY to me and my guy. We have that down to a science. I would say the turkey. Cooking meat scares me in general and to do a whole turkey, egads (hence I let others deal with that). 😀

It has been very challenging learning to bake with gluten free flours. Thank goodness I found Bob’s Red Mills flours and baking mixes they have made life so much better! I am still very intimidated by making pie crust. The perfect pie needs a good crust and those frozen gluten free ones are ok but would love to make a decent gluten free pie crust myself.
