Every New Years Eve party has to have the nibbles. After all, your guests have gotta have something to soak up all that alcohol. Can we just say that champagne on an empty stomach equals a recipe for disaster of near-epic proportions? Plus, nibbles just taste good when youre in a partying mood, though lets be honest . . . they arent always the healthiest of food choices. Thankfully, with these recipes your party appetizers dont have to be bad for you to taste delish, nor do you have to slave away for hours at the stove to feed a bunch of hungry, potentially tipsy people. These recipes are tasty, nutritious and will feed a crowd. Talk about triple power. We hope you love them as much as we do.
Ahh, what party table would be complete without crackers? These crackers are made with our Organic Quinoa Flour and are gluten free. Everything bagel seasoning, sunflower seeds, salt and pepper make them totally crunch-and-munch worthy. You can also make them with our chickpea flour crackers and offer a nice selection for your guests, or serve them up as is, no variety necessary. They are super easy to make and taste great paired with cheeses or your favorite dip.
If youre having trouble coming up with a dip for those crackers, why not try this hummus recipe instead? Its made with garbanzo beans and tahini, along with sea salt, cumin and minced garlic. Lemon juice and olive oil add creaminess and a bit of zip to the mix. You can experiment with your seasonings too and change it up. There are no hard and fast hummus rules. This recipe is extremely easy to make and a little can go a long way. Or just double up on the ingredients and you can rest easy knowing youve got plenty to go around.
This is another garbanzo recipe, using our Garbanzo Bean Flour and baking powder for the coating. Use a large, peeled Vidalia onion, and mix together your garbanzo flour with vinegar, water and seasoned salt to make your batter. Slice your onion into a flower with petals and pour the batter over the top, making sure you get batter in between all the little crevices. Pop it in the oven to bake until that bad boy is cooked and golden in color.
Speaking of everything bagel seasoning, did you know you can also make everything bagel popcorn, too? Pop White or Yellow Popcorn in some coconut oil and toss with seasonings like poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried onion flakes, caraway seeds and salt. You can also crush up some pita chips and throw those in for good measure. Once the mixture is well combined, serve it up!
If youre ready to up your game on New Years Eve, try these pretzel-wrapped little piggies. They are a little time intensive because youre making the pretzel blanket from scratch, using our Active Dry Yeast, Artisan Bread Flour and Organic Spelt Flour. But they are totally worth the extra effort. You can use cocktail franks or little smokies for the filling and serve with a bowl of whole grain mustard to dip them in. Or serve them with your favorite sauce. Dip them in a mixture of baking soda and water before placing them in the oven, and dont forget to brush them with an egg wash. Bake and serve warm or room temp.
These deep-fried or baked little risotto balls are loaded with cheese and oh, so yummy! In the case of this recipe, we use hulled millet for the risotto and Unbleached White All-Purpose Flour mixed with breadcrumbs for the coating. Chicken broth, garlic, shallots, lemon zest and grated parmesan cheese add loads of flavor wrapped around oozing, melting, mozzarella cheese goodness.
Tartine is a fancy French word for an open-faced sandwich. This recipe also happens to be gluten free, with a cracker-like crust that is perfectly chewy and perfectly delicious. You could serve this sandwich paired with a nice soup, or even try making miniature, bite-sized versions as finger food. We use our Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour for the crust, along with flavorings like thyme, fresh rosemary, salt and pepper. Top the crust with tasty goodies like prosciutto, goat cheese, Black Mission figs, red onion and arugula. Drizzle with olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar and finish with a dusting of ground pepper and sea salt. Ta da! A New Years Eve appetizer we are sure will be gobbled up in no time.
