Cool Treats to Beat the Heat

Cool Treats to Beat the Heat

Everyone knows Summer brings soaring temperatures. People have many tactics to beat the heat and cool off, from hitting the waves to splashing in the pool. Some folks even like to take a little indoor siesta during the hottest part of the day. While we have no problem with siestas, why not use that time to make healthy frozen treats? These delicious treats are good any time of the day, no matter when you enjoy them. Not only will you feel as cool as a cucumber, you also will help fuel your body to keep up with those long summer hours. After all, the demands of swimming, surfing, hiking, and biking (and whatever else you choose to fill your days with) can be steep. A clean, healthy source of energy is a must, and weve got you covered.

Sunshine Daydream Smoothie

Cool Treats to Beat the Heat _ Bobs Red Mill We all know smoothies are always a big hit any time of year, but they are especially yummy during warm summer months. And this sunshine daydream smoothie offers exactly what the name implies; a sunshine daydream wrapped in the delicious island flavors of fresh banana, fresh mango or papaya, and sweet pineapple juice. Add in our premium pea protein powder for a boost of protein without any sweeteners or flavors to mess with the presentation of your concoction, and youve got a smoothie that will help you go the distance in that summer heat. This smoothie is grain, soy, dairy, and gluten-free, plus high in fiber, which makes it extra special. And if youre vegetarian or vegan, you can rest easy, because this smoothie was made for you. We like to garnish with a bit of sliced fruit, like slivers of banana and wedges of pineapple and mango, but you can fancy up your version however youd like.

Chocolate Berry Breakfast Bowl

Perhaps youre sick of smoothies. We know, it happens. Too much of a good thing is still too much, right? So why not give a smoothie a twist by making your smoothie into a bowl! With a thick and creamy consistency, you can enjoy this bowl with a spoon rather than a straw. Then add your favorite toppings, and viola, youve got a cool and delicious treat with a bit more sticking power. We happen to love this chocolate and berry recipe. Just blend together mixed berries, bananas, almond butter, honey, and our chocolate protein powder nutritional booster and add a bit of almond milk until you have it at the perfect consistency. Serve it up in your favorite bowl and top it with fancy fixins like gluten-free apple blueberry granola, hulled hemp seed hearts, and fresh fruit. Stick a spoon in it and call it done!

Habanero Strawberry Chia Fresca

This delicious experiment in warm-weather treats uses habanero-infused honey courtesy of GloryBee. You simply blend a 1/4 of habanero honey with a cup of chopped strawberries and toss in some fresh mint for extra flavor and coolness. Once youve pureed it all together to a smooth consistency, throw in organic chia seeds for an extra dose of fiber. You can serve this drink just the way it is, top it with club soda and ice, or add a shot (or two) of tequila to really jazz it up. If you allow the chia seeds to soak in the liquid they will absorb and thicken - turning your fresca into a refreshing smoothie consistency! No matter how you make it, we are convinced this is one chilly, sweet treat you wont be able to get enough of. Heck, you might not even want to share. We wont tell if you wont.

Vanilla and Chocolate Protein Popsicles

Sometimes, smoothies and fancy drinks dont quite cut it, and only a tasty frozen popsicle will do the trick. These chocolate and vanilla swirled popsicles are a delicious and good-for-you treat to keep on hand all summer long. In fact, they are so delish, even the kids will love them. They wont know theyre getting a healthy portion of protein with their frozen treats and neither will any of your other picky-eating family members. Again, shhh. Our secret. They also make a great snack after a hard workout, so if youre a fitness buff, were talking to you! Each layer uses almond milk as a base, and then either our vanilla protein powder nutritional booster, or our chocolate protein powder nutritional booster. Bananas and dates add a bit of sweetness to the dessert, while a pinch of salt really brings out the flavors. Prep and blend both your vanilla and chocolate layers. Next, youll want to fill your molds about halfway with the vanilla mix, then partially freeze them. Top that layer with your chocolate mix, then use a skewer to swirl the two layers together. Add your pop sticks and freeze for at least 6 hours. Then, when youre hot and ready to cool off, bust them out of the freezer and serve! You can also pop them out of the molds (run them under warm water first) and bag them to save for later. No rules here, only cool, sweet, healthy summer treats everyone in the house will adore.
