What are the black speck or two found in with the oatmeal?

Bought 5 bags of 24 oz Gluten Free Steel Cut Oats. Does Freezing the unopened individual bags, which I will double wrap each bag individually with Saran Wrap and Heavy-Duty Aluminum Foil introduce moisture? Or should they be kept in the pantry which is dark and dry? Which method will extend shelf life? Btw, the best oatmeal in the world. Keep up the good work.

Rancid or bad bag of 24 oz organic, steel cut oats:
Had a bag of these unexpired oats stored in my basement fridge for several weeks or perhaps a few months, unopened, They expire in October 2024. I stock up on this product when it's on sale but don't know where I bought them. Might have a receipt somewhere if it's important. Lot number 23-116-waq-32, under that it says 14:12:27 04 2023. Wasn't smelling them for freshness initially. Just opened and cooked them. My oatmeal tasted a bit off, which I assumed was perhaps due to a bad piece of dried fruit or nuts that added to my bowl . However a half hour or so later both I and my dog (I make her food, using a little of whatever grain I am cooking for breakfast) both got sick after eating these.
When I smelled them, they didn't smell fresh, not alarmingly rancid though, just a bit off. Definitely smelled old.
Disappointed.

I just opened fresh bought Bob's red mill all purpose flour, I smell something like old rice flour. Expiry is 2024.
I've been using same flour for long time but this is my first time noticed.
Is it safe to use? my bread taste different, and smell is not nice as usual.

I have an unopened bag of Bobs RM gluten-free steel cut oats . Kept in a cool dry place since purchased. BBD is 6/27/2022. From what I’ve read it should still be ok to consume.
I usually store my oats in the back of my refrigerator in a ziplock bag.. So can I assume that it will still be good until at least December 2022…..

I got given a 453g bag of Bob's Red Mill 5 grain rolled hot cereal with a solid air pocket at top,expired april of 2021,are they safe to eat? Haven't bought any for awhile.

I purchased 3 packages of Bob’s Red Mill Semolina Flour. The best by date is May 13, 2023. How long past the expiration date is it safe to use, if stored in a Mylar bag with oxygen absorbers and kept in a cool place (in an airtight bucket with a gamma lid)?

We just found an unopened bag of Gluten-Free Quick Cooking Oats, with a "sell by" date of 2/12/2016. It was kept in a dark pantry, pretty constant temperature, low humidity. Would this be OK to use?

As part of a Halloween gift from a national grocery chain, I was given two packets of your instant oatmeal packaged with a coupon. When I opened the package, I saw that the instant oatmeal packets had old dates on them. One had a date of 07062021 and the other 06072021. I assume these are the expiration dates. The coupon doesn't expire until 1/31/22. Should I discard the oatmeal based on these dates; and why would Bob's Red Mill old expired oatmeal be packaged with a recent coupon? The grocery store did not package these together; it was already sealed when they received them.

Does Bob's package their flour using inert gas like nitrogen or co2? I heard this can extend the shelf life.

You talked about regular flour, but how long past the expiration date would gluten free flour last assuming that it is kept in a cool dark moisture free storage.
