The second largest world crop, rice is a staple food in Asia where it is grown on small paddies and harvested by hand, just as it has been for centuries. Bob's Red Mill Short Grain White Rice is carefully selected from the finest rice crops in America. These fat kernels are so plump, they are almost round. They have a high starch content, which keeps the rice moist and and causes it to stick together when cooked. Our Short Grain White Rice is extremely rich and creamy in flavor and texture. As with all of our white rice varieties, the bran and germ have been removed.
White rice is low in fat and a good source of iron. Our Short Grain White Rice is outstanding for making rice balls, croquettes, and puddings. It can also be served alone or in stews, pilafs, casseroles, curries, soups or vegetable dishes. See the back of our package for basic cooking instructions, as well as two terrifically tasty recipes to get you started cooking with Short Grain White Rice—Rice & Almond Pilaf and Rice & Lentil Stew. Both will be sure to please.
As a continued commitment to the quality of the products we make and sell, all of Bob’s Red Mill products are certified kosher pareve or kosher dairy by Rabbi Avrohom Teichman of Kehilla Kosher, Igud HaKashrus of Los Angeles.
All Bob’s Red Mill products are vegetarian. This product is also vegan, meaning it is made without the use of any animal products including eggs, dairy, and honey.
