Rolled Triticale Flakes are made from a special hybrid of wheat and rye. Use them to make a uniquely flavored whole grain cereal or for baking in place of other rolled grains.

Triticale (trit-ih-KAY-lee) is a very special hybrid grain resulting from a cross between wheat (Triticum) and rye (Secale). This unique whole grain brings together all the best traits of these two plants—the grain quality, productivity and disease resistance of wheat, and the strength and hardiness of rye. Bob's Red Mill Rolled Triticale Flakes have a flavor that is a bit deeper than wheat's with a subtle hint of rye's grassiness. Rolled Triticale Flakes Hot Cereal is a wonderful way to get your energy level up and going and keep it there all day long. It's packed with dietary fiber and low in sodium. Triticale is also a good source of magnesium and folate. Rolled Triticale Flakes make a uniquely flavored hot cereal and are an excellent addition to baked goods. Use in place of rolled oats in your favorite recipe.

4 Reviews For "Rolled Triticale Flakes"

  1. Makes a nice witbier

    by Dirk on 09 Wed,2017

I used 5 lbs. (50% of the mash) to make a Belgian witbier. It turned out great! It is a little less "wheaty" and gives a softer flavor profile and mouthfeel than using the same amount of wheat. I wish the stores in the area that carry your other products carried this, so I wouldn't have to mail order it. (I'm in Lexington, KY)

  2. Great for multiple purposes

    by Caitlin on 06 Thu,2016

I have bought several pounds of this rolled triticale from Vitacost.com. I have used it in baking breads, and just recently, I used a pound of flaked triticale as an adjunct grain in a batch of home brewed beer. I have yet to find out how this grain does as an adjunct in brewing. Overall, rolled triticale has lovely taste and nutritional value. It is so economical, too.

    Hello Caitlin,

Thank you for your review. That sounds like a good idea, let us know how the brew turns out.

  3. Economical, versatile tasty.

by old girl on 08 Wed,2013

Actually, quite economical...use 1/2 the amount|to get equal to what you would normally eat. The cooked cereal is creamy and would be a good substitute for barley in the evening with cooked kale, peppers, peas, carrots, chinese style, other|vegetables. One recipe on back for peanut butter|cookies, so you can use in baking, too.|Rye and wheat combo makes it a bit different.

  4. Better than oatmeal! ...

Better than oatmeal! Sticks to you.
