To prepare our Whole Grains and Beans Soup Mix in a slow cooker, place the bean soup mix and vegetable broth in the slow cooker bowl. Allow to cook for 5 hours on high or 8 hours on low.

Unfortunately, we have not tested this product in a pressure cooker. We were able to locate a very informative website regarding this. If you click here, you will be redirected to the Hip Pressure Cooking website.

Please provide a search for recipes by product. i.e. Select “Whole Grain and Beans Soup Mix” all recipes, including basic instructions, for that product. This would help customers with helpful ideas and suggestions much better.

      Hi Lawrence,
We do have a way to search for recipes by a specific product; if you go to a specific products information page (All Purpose Flour for example), you will see a tab at the bottom of the page which says “recipes.” This tab will feature recipes using this specific product as well as basic cooking instructions when applicable. Nutritional information, close up views of the label, and reviews will also be featured on any specific product page.

Are the beans in this soup supposed to be crunchy after it has simmered for 1.5 hours and prepared with 4 cups stock to 1 cup soup mix? I did everything as the instructions said to, adding about one-quarter of a Bob’s spice mix packet and one can of diced tomatoes. Thanks.

      Hi Carol,
You’ll want to make sure your beans are soft before adding tomatoes or other acidic foods. Sugar and acid have a hardening effect on beans and will prevent softening, so this may be the issue.

I’m guessing you need to soak the mix first? Followed the recipe and it burned into my pot. Would be nice if it said to soak on the bag, I have never cooked this way before.

      Hi Nicole,
You do not need to soak the mix before cooking. Just add 1 cup of the mix to 4 cups of water or broth, bring to a boil, and then reduce to a simmer and cook for about an hour and a half. If you notice the liquid is evaporating too quickly, add more and turn down the heat until it is just at a simmer. It is important to note that the instructions call for only 1 cup of the mix and not the whole bag which would require more liquid.
