  1. Mix together all the ingredients except the frying oil.  Add a little more water or buttermilk if needed to get a pancake consistency.  Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat.  Use about 2 Tb of batter per hoecake.  Brown on both sides.  Serve with syrup or honey.  Makes 16 hoecakes.
