Instructions
  1. Pour 1/2 cup of water in 1 2 qt. sauce pan. Add all the ingredients except the garbanzo bean flour. Whisk in the garbanzo bean flour to make a paste.
  2. Whisk in slowly the remaining water.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Continue stirring and Simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, cover and cool. Use as a sandwich spread or as a dip.
Recipe Notes

VARIATIONS:

*Add 1 tsp. Chipolte seasoning.

*Add 1/2 cup black beans. Mash beans before adding to other ingredients.

*Add 12oz. jar of water-packed Roasted Red Peppers and 4 Jalapeno pepper slices. Decrease amount of water to 3/4 cup. Finely chop red pepper with the liquid in the jar and the jalapenos. Add to remaining ingredients.

    This recipe seems to be based on the Hummus with Garbanzo Bean Flour recipe on this site with a couple tweaks. It certainly cooked up a smooth and flavorful batch of hummus, however, I don’t think that using the chicken flavored seasoning is for me. That said, if you’re a big fan of those Chicken In A Biscuit crackers, then you’re going to LOVE this recipe as a healthier alternative!
