  1. Sift together the first 4 ingredients (whole wheat pastry flour through salt).



    Combine and beat the egg yolks, buttermilk and vegetable oil. Add this to the flour mixture, blend. Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites.



    Bake in preheated waffle iron until golden. Reheat waffle iron before putting another waffle in each time. Serve with butter and honey or pure maple syrup.



    Yield: 6 Waffles

    I love this recipe … since I discovered it many years ago … I have used none other than this.

    Will this recipe work in a Belgian Waffle Maker? … or is there another recipe recommended for said waffle maker? I really prefer the whole wheat pastry flour.

      Hi Sharla,
      We haven’t tested this recipe using a Belgian Waffle Maker, but you should be able to prepare them this way. Just follow the instructions for your machine and enjoy!
