  1. Combine 1 cup Bob's Red Mill Wild Rice and Brown Rice Mix, 2 1/2 cups water, 1 tsp. salt and 1 Tbsp. butter or oil in sauce pan with tight fitting cover. Bring to a boil over high heat. Stir once or twice, cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 45-55 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.

    I thought it seemed like an awful lot of water vs. rice, and after following the instructions exactly, turns out I was right. The rice was water-logged and mushy. Basically oatmeal. Very disappointed. 🙁

The water to rice ratio is what we’ve had the best results with in our test kitchen, but you may try reducing the water by 1/4-1/2 cup next time you follow this recipe.
